Have you ever wondered what kind of dirt law enforcement officers would be able to dig up on you if they went to World of Warcraft developer Blizzard for information? Well, wonder no more. An 18-page document has been leaked to the internet thanks to the notorious organization known as AntiSec. The document is two years old, but it outlines what information Blizzard will disclose to law enforcement officers under given stipulations.

And in completely and utterly unrelated news (well, Chuck Norris played a Texas ranger, so I guess there's some kind of connection), the game has revived its celebrity-laden advertisement series with a new commercial featuring none other than the hero of Barrens chat himself, mister Chuck Norris. As expected, the short clip is full of WoW-modified Chuck Norris jokes because apparently that horse hasn't been sufficiently flogged yet. To see the ad for yourself, just click on past the cut.

Continue reading World of Warcraft 'law enforcement guide' leaked, new commercial released

World of Warcraft 'law enforcement guide' leaked, new commercial released originally appeared on Massively on Mon, 21 Nov 2011 18:00:00 EST. Quick -- what's missing in your life? No, not your dog; that beast is never coming back and you might as well get used to it. We're talking about Evony's tasteful, classy, and omnipresent chest-centric ads that had absolutely nothing to do with the gameplay itself.

While Evony eventually replaced those ads with ones that showed elements from the actual game, it was only a matter of time before the bosoms of glory returned. To solve the crisis of the irrelevant breasts, the game studio hired a model to portray an in-game character, Eva, in a new series of ads.

According to the press release, Eva was chosen by the game's players to find the right look for the person to represent the game. Eva will be displayed as both a real model and cartoon version. Undoubtedly, this is the high point of civilization as we know it, and everything will go downhill from here.
Massively mammillary online: Evony hires model to be the... face of the game originally appeared on Massively on Thu, 10 Nov 2011 13:00:00 EST. With launch day closing in, crime MMO All Points Bulletin has been getting its payment scheme in order. The game's pricing structure was revealed at the end of April, including several flexible pay-per-time and monthly subscription options. In addition, the game will have a currency called "RTW points," which can be used for character customisations or converted into game time. While looking through the payment options in his account management page early this morning, one APB forum poster spied a strange button that set off a few warning bells in his head. Marked "VOIP Premium," the option removes adverts from APB's in-game voice chat for 30, 90 or 180 days in exchange for payment.

This was the first players had heard of adverts being inserted into their voice chat and speculation began to run wild in the game's pre-release forum community. Players feared the worst -- that right in the middle of their game, a radio advert would start playing over their speakers. Community Officer Toxico was quick to address concerns, explaining the exact circumstances under which the ads will be played. For an advert to play, you have to be entering a district and must not have heard an ad for the past three hours. This ensures that they'll never interrupt normal play and won't play in an irritatingly high frequency. While some forum posters are avidly opposing a premium VOIP service, most seem content with the explanation provided and the conditions under which adverts will be played.
Putting aside all arguments of who Free Realms is made for, or what audience might enjoy it, here's something that can we can all agree on -- this new TV spot is definitely for a younger crowd. Seeing MMO ads on TV always reminds us how mainstream our little corner of the gaming scene has become, and for some reason, an ad aimed at kids is doubly so. There's really not a lot more we can say about this one; the video speaks for itself. It shows a series of regular people getting ready for a busy day -- but from how they are preparing, it would appear that their busy day could be comprised of things like slaying dragons, saving villagers and traversing Middle-earth. We don't get to see any of this taking place in the real world, but there is some in-game footage in the second half that shows what it's all about.

The end of the video provides a link to a promotional website, www.movetomiddle-earth.com, which looks to give some background on the game and show a little more to those whose interest is piqued by the ad.

[Via Gamebunny]
New TV spot for LotRO shows Ordinary People getting their MMO on originally appeared on Massively on Tue, 05 Feb 2008 01:00:00 EST.
Nexon seems to have recently launched a new US advertising campaign to promote MapleStory, their free to play MMO. The campaign we've seen so far includes three different commercials (one of which you'll see above) which are, well, a bit odd. I can't say quite what demographic these commercials are aiming at, but perhaps you can tell me -- do they make you want to go out and play MapleStory? Oh, and if one example wasn't enough, you can also check out the pig commercial and the snail commercial.
New MapleStory commercials originally appeared on Massively on Sun, 07 Oct 2007 11:03:00 EST.
