Holocrons serve as storage devices for Jedi and Sith lore. These objects store not only information from their creators but also their essence. Every once in a while, I highlight a specific aspect of Star Wars lore and apply it directly to <a href="http://swtor.com/"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a>. I want to impart my knowledge of that part of the Star Wars universe as well as what I have learned from roleplaying in games like <a href="http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/"><em>Star Wars Galaxies</em></a> and other venues.<br />
<br />
Since the first appearance of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, fans have been curious about the Sith with the horns on his head. Some fans also noticed the Jedi council member with horns on his head and wondered if he was related to the previously mentioned Sith. Both are, in fact, Zabraks, a humanoid species originating on the planet Iridonia.<br />
<br />
A freighter full of lore has been written about this species, from a fan-fic language to canon medical analysis. There is no way I can dissect it all in this article, but let's talk about the specifics of how you can apply Zabrak lore to your Zabrak character.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/hyperspace-beacon-holocron-files-zabraks/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hyperspace Beacon: Holocron Files -- Zabraks</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/hyperspace-beacon-holocron-files-zabraks/">Hyperspace Beacon: Holocron Files -- Zabraks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 28 Feb 2012 12:00:00 EST. Yesterday, <a href="http://Gamespot.com">Gamespot</a> delivered us a surprise Christmas present of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/23/swtor-trooper-video-kicks-some-serious-shut-yo-mouth/">the Trooper classes trailer</a>. So it comes as no surprise that the official <a href="http://swtor.com"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a> website launched a whole slew of information this morning about that Republic class.<br />
<br />
First, we have the Weequay, <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/biographies/tanno-vik">Tanno Vik</a>, who impressed his military instructors by always planting explosives where they would do the most damage. The Republic army considered him for the Special Forces division, but his attitude and disregard for authority always held him back. Vik will eventually run into you and become a part of your crew if you pick the Republic Trooper class.<br />
<br />
We have already learned that the <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/classes/sith-inquisitor">Sith Inquisitor</a> can be played as a <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/inhabitants/zabrak">Zabrak</a>, but the team at <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-wars-the-old-republic/"><em>SWTOR</em></a> has now officially announced that this species will be available for the Trooper class as well -- even though we <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/14/hyperspace-beacon-testing-the-swtor-waters/">played one at PAX</a> already. This determined and confident species fits right with the other hard-nosed characters of Havoc Squad.<br />
<br />
Lastly, we can take a look at the <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/starships/bt-7-thunderclap">Rendili Hyperworks BT-7 Thunderclap</a>. This is the Republic's elite rapid assault ship. The shape reminds this reporter of his T-16 back home, except much, much bigger and more guns.<br />
<br />
To get the full scoop on this assault class, check out <a href="http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20101224">the article on the official website</a> and don't miss the updated <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/classes/trooper">Trooper class page</a>. For the Republic!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/24/trooper-info-explodes-from-star-wars-the-old-republic/">Trooper info explodes from Star Wars: The Old Republic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 24 Dec 2010 12:00:00 EST. <span style="float: right; margin-left: 10px; margin-top: 7px;"> <script> var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/pc_games/Star_Wars_The_Old_Republic_reveals_new_playable_species'; </script> <script src="http://digg.com/api/diggthis.js"></script></span>
<div style="text-align: left;">To the elation of fans of <a href="http://swtor.com"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a>, the developers at <a href="http://bioware.com">BioWare</a> <a href="http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20100806">announced</a> that the Sith "pure blood" and Miraluka will be playable species for the <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/classes/sith-warrior">Sith warrior</a> and <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/classes/jedi-knight">Jedi knight</a> classes, respectively. On top of that, the Mirialan species will be available to Force push as <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/classes/jedi-consular">Jedi consulars</a>, and the <a href="http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/classes/sith-inquisitor">Sith inquisitor</a> can slash his dual-bladed lightsaber as an acrobatic Zabrak.<br />
<br />
In case these species names mean very little to you, here is a brief catch-up. The <a href="http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sith_species">Sith species</a> is a red-skinned race from the planet Korriban. They were made mention of in this <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/24/hyperspace-beacon-empires-strike-back/">Hyperspace Beacon</a> a little while back. <a href="http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Miraluka">Miraluaka</a> are blind humanoids who see via the Force. The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II_The_Sith_Lords"><em>KOTOR II</em></a> character <a href="http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Visas_Marr">Visas Marr</a> was Miraluka. <a href="http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mirialan">Mirialan</a> are a bit less familiar to the casual fan, but two of them are found in the Episodes <a href="http://www.starwars.com/movies/episode-ii/">II</a> and <a href="http://www.starwars.com/movies/episode-iii/">III</a> of the Star Wars movies, <a href="http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/luminaraunduli/index.html">Luminara</a> and <a href="http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/barrissoffee/index.html">Barriss</a>. Finally, everyone should be familiar with the devilish face of <a href="http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/darthmaul/index.html">Darth Maul</a>, the Sith apprentice who killed <a href="http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/quigonjinn/index.html">Qui-Gon Jinn</a>. He was the quintessential <a href="http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Zabrak">Zabrak</a>. <br />
<br />
Perhaps this writer is the only one excited about this announcement, but it is doubtful. What are Massively reader's thoughts?</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/08/06/swtor-announces-green-red-blind-and-horny-force-species/">SWTOR announces green, red, blind, and horny Force species</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 06 Aug 2010 14:45:00 EST. I've been holding off on this for a little while, but it's the kind of subject that is impossible for me to avoid indefinitely. Classes <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/30/what-are-swtors-three-final-classes/">were the last topic I touched upon</a>, and there was quite a lot of conversation. In fact, there was a whole bunch of it to follow. So let's discuss the potential races for <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.swtor.com">Star Wars: The Old Republic</a> and, as usual, feel free to toss in your thoughts and picks in the comments. It wouldn't be the same without them.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/17/the-digital-continuum-let-the-star-wars-races-begin/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Digital Continuum: Let the Star Wars races begin</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/17/the-digital-continuum-let-the-star-wars-races-begin/">The Digital Continuum: Let the Star Wars races begin</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 17 Aug 2009 17:00:00 EST.
