When the world has gone spectacularly to hell, and you've already lost everything save what you've managed to cobble together from the wasteland, what's a poor clone to do? Well, if you're regular One Shots contributor, Twarsong, you could always spend an evening enjoying the vices that Fallen Earth has to offer -- and lose a little more, in the form of chips! That said, he seems to be in relatively good spirits, or perhaps that's just the spirits he's had to drink talking. He writes in to give other clones some tips he's gleaned from his time at the virtual tables: "There are many vices on our Fallen Earth. All of which can be avoided by spending a night underground in a bunker bar. There are three painful rules that experience has taught me. Follow them and you are sure to have a good time at the working video blackjack machines in the game."

"Rule #1. Never chase after bad money with good.
Rule #2. Make the dealer beat that 17.
Rule #3. Never ever chase after 10 chips with a 20,000 chip bet!"

The funny thing about the wastelands of Fallen Earth is that a clone never really knows what he or she will run into. Take today's One Shots sent in to us by Twarsong for example. When he first arrived here, he sent us this picturesque image along with the following note: "As the world pulls itself from the edge of destruction, it was a significant moment to come across new construction in the Grand Canyon Province. I hope the lands beyond are enduring The Fall just as tenaciously." However, after Twarsong spent a little while at this locale, he realized those signs of life weren't the ones he'd initially thought they were: "Closer inspection revealed this to be an abandoned construction site now inhabited by giant, mutated ants, scorpions and stinkbugs. I am sure I heard the scream of all three queens from deep within the hotel's recesses."

It's an interesting question: If you were in the post-apocalyptic wastelands of Fallen Earth, headed off into the unknown, just what would you take with you? For us, it would involve lots of food, lots of firepower, and something that could get us away from danger quickly -- with extra fuel! That said, if you're regular One Shots contributor Twarsong, your packing list would go a little something like this:

We've made no secret that Fallen Earth is a staff favorite here at Massively. With strange, mutated monsters threatening you at every turn, and factions that take great relish in trying to wipe each other off the map, the post-apocalyptic Grand Canyon is a dangerous -- yet fun -- place to be. We especially like how Icarus Studios have added a touch of humor to the wastes by creating fashion ensembles such as the gear pictured above. After all, who else but a wasteland warrior would have the cojones to wear what amounts to a very large target on his chest? Twarsong tells us a bit more about this fellow he ran into during his travels:

"The Coalition Archives of Fallen Earth tell of a warrior race whose prowess in battle was unmatched. I'd imagine they would have nothing but pride and respect for their Children Of The Apocalypse progeny. Just the other day, a C.H.O.T.A. bloodied my nose in a bunker bar. I was surprised when he yelled, "It is a good day to die!" I wasn't surprised that he was ready to kill over a spilled Old Kingman iced tea... that is to be expected of a C.H.O.T.A. I was surprised that that he was so well read of our historical archives!"

Ah snow... When it's in the real world, it's fun for a while, but then we have to shovel it, scrape it, or drive in it -- not so much fun. In our favorite MMOs, it's always beautiful and problem-free. I suppose this is because nobody ever built in a "must shovel five walkways" quest, otherwise we'd probably think snow in an MMO was pretty irksome too. Speaking of beautiful snowy images, today's chilly Lord of the Rings Online postcard comes in to us from Twarsong, who has been off exploring for some time, but stopped to send in a note. He writes: 'Tis the season of painted trees, capped mountains, warm fires and shire pipeweed. War may be beyond, but it is the season of greetings from Ered Luin to the fields of Lothlorien.

Today we're bringing you another Lord of the Rings Online travelogue screenshot from One Shots regular contributor, Twarsong. Of course, this entry is a great deal darker than some of the other lovely screenshots he's sent our way, but we're glad to see his email all the same. Twarsong reports in: Not all scarecrows in Middle-earth are meant to keep away birds. If this beast of wood, mud and rope doesn't put dread into your heart, the restless spirits that now gather to the effigies will do the job. That's certainly something we wouldn't want to run into -- and the scarecrow is pretty spooky, too.

There's something liberating about getting out in the night air and just wandering around, looking at the stars, far from civilization. Of course, if you live in an extremely urban area like many of the writers, stars are harder to see for all the light pollution in the area. So what's a gamer to do? Turn to their favorite MMOG, of course! Today's One Shots comes to us from Twarsong, one of our regular Lord of the Rings Online contributors, who writes:

It was a long ride through the night that brought Twarsong and his steed through the North Downs and into the well hidden refuge of Rangers, Esteldin. With the constellation Orion shining through the twilight now at his back, he and his faithful steed will rest easy under the protection of the heirs of Númenor this day!

While we're not entirely sure that's Orion back there, it certainly is lovely to look at. Screens like this certainly show off why Lord of the Rings Online remains a steady favorite for people to send in! Many nooks and crannies in the Trollshaws hide splendid surroundings perfect for a quick meal and a puff of pipeweed. Only keep your head about you since you never know what dangers can sneak upon you as you take in the beauty!

Shadows loom in the darkened forest, swallowing the intrepid explorer Twarsong and creating today's eerie One Shots image. While we can assure you that this is indeed Lord of the Rings Online, the Trollshaws isn't an area we see here too terribly often. It certainly isn't as bright and cheery as many others we do get, but we think this just adds to the beauty of a game. There's nothing quite like seeing creepy overshadowed areas where layers interplay with light, to make you appreciate how much the designers were paying attention to details.

You know we can never stay away from Lord of the Rings Online for long. People just love to send in screenshots and show off just how gorgeous the game is! Today, however, we're featuring something we haven't seen as yet -- and while we'd love to tell you where it is, Twarsong swore us to secrecy about the location. As he said, he'd "like to preserve the surprise of when players happen across this location!" So, while we're staying spoiler-free, we can definitely appreciate the detail in this area, with light and shadow falling beautifully.
