Did <em>Grand Theft Auto V</em> and <em>GTA Online</em> impact <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/apb-reloaded"><em>APB Reloaded</em></a>? Well, of course. Rockstar's juggernaut affected the entire industry via its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/09/20/grand-theft-auto-5-sales-surpass-1-billion/">total sales</a> and its mind-boggling ascent to the top of the all-time 24-hour sales chart. And that's "all-time" as in the history of all entertainment. Ever.<br />
<br />
Anyway, <em>APB Reloaded</em>. There's a <a href="http://apbreloaded.gamersfirst.com/2013/10/colliding-with-gta-v-train-and-getting.html">new blog post</a> on the game's official site that addresses the <em>GTA</em> impact as well as the addition of community management veteran Diane "<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/tiggs">Tiggs</a>" Migliaccio to the team.<br />
<br />
<em>Reloaded's</em> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/bjorn-book-larsson">Bjorn Book-Larsson</a> also mentions the firm's plans for an <em>APB</em> engine upgrade. The game currently uses Unreal 3, which is basically the same engine that powered the 2008 edition of Epic's <em>Unreal Tournament 3</em>. While many are celebrating (or suffering) back-to-school this month, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/fallen-earth"><em>Fallen Earth</em></a> is focusing its celebratory sights on a different event: its birthday! That's right -- this month the post-apocalyptic wasteland turns four years old. And as part of the festivities, AP Augmented weapons will be released, rifles are getting a power boost, and new player-requested clothing items are hitting the scene. Players can custom color a set of Phoenix Plate armor, grab a new duster with removable spiky shoulder pads, or wear a hoodie that would make <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/tiggs/">Tiggs</a> happy. All subscribers will get a revamped Lifenet suit for the anniversary.<br />

<a href="http://www.icarusstudios.com/">Icarus Studios</a> is gearing up to celebrate an interesting <a href="http://www.fallenearth.com"><em>Fallen Earth</em></a> anniversary of sorts, as plans for the <a href="http://www.fallenearth.com/node/564">Texas Invasion Celebration</a> are afoot. <a href="http://www.fallenearth.com/node/127">Last year</a>, a horde of angry Texans invaded the Grand Canyon province and caused a temporary cessation of clone-on-clone violence as LifeNet survivors banded together to fend off the horde and protect the region's resources.<br />

This year, survivors can celebrate the one year anniversary of the victory, and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/fallen-earth"><em>Fallen Earth</em></a> GMs will be there to hand out festive prizes and loot leftover from the battle. One other important point is highlighted in the event press release. "<em>Please be advised that Tiggs (GM) is a Texan. Offensive and/or obscene Texan remarks may result in [the]death of your clone, teleporting and/or no goodies. Just sayin</em>." <br />

It's always nice when developers let their hair down, shaking out their majestic manes in slow-motion glory while their eyes sparkle with a thousand points of... I'm sorry, where was I? Anyway, part of the powerhouse <a href="http://www.fallenearth.com/"><em>Fallen Earth</em></a> team recently sat down with Stratics' House of Commons <a href="http://www.globaltechatlas.info/2010/05/stratics-hoc-chat-transcript-art.html">to answer community questions</a> about the game in a free-form chat, which was recorded and posted on <a href="http://www.globaltechatlas.info/2010/05/stratics-hoc-chat-transcript-art.html">Globaltech ATLAS</a>. Icarus devs present were <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/tiggs/">Tiggs</a> (Community Director), Chris Deavellar (Art Director), Cory Farris (Senior Environment Artist) and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/wes-platt/">Wes Platt</a> (Director of Content Development).<br />

Topics included new <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/30/wasteland-diaries-blood-sports-and-pvp/">Blood Sports</a> maps, the day/night cycle, supercross, pop culture references and questions about the art and graphics of the game. One of the questions wondered why they couldn't add more body types into the game, which earned a revealing answer: "<em>If we do implement new chracter</em> [sic] <em>types, it will require new rigging, new animation (about 1000 of them), and new boltons just for one new toon.</em> <em>You'll notice that games like </em>Gears of War<em> and </em>Halo <em>only have men? That's because they couldn't even afford to spend time doing a female toon. It's a LOT, LOT, LOT of work."</em><br />

Of that latter category, <a href="http://www.fallenearth.com/ "><em>Fallen Earth</em></a> is one of the most anticipated titles that's nearing test phases.<br /><br />Tiggs, the Community Director at the official <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/fallen-earth"><em>Fallen Earth</em></a> forums, said, <em>"After a nine-month schedule of intensive content development, we are happy to announce that we have reached the development landmark 'content complete.' The Fallen Earth team has met two critical development milestones on time within the past six months, including 'feature complete' in June."</em> Her announcement to the <em>Fallen Earth</em> community breaks down the major accomplishments linked to the game's content complete status. Highlights include 50,000 lines of dialogue, well over 1000 new and motion-captured animations and emotes, and over 1000 square kilometers of explorable territory, but there's much more. The announcement blared last Friday. The <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/mythos-beta-is-shutting-down-tonight/"><em>Mythos</em> beta would shutdown and placed on hiatus</a> that very night. It didn't leave much time to say goodbye, the suddenness left many unable to attend but Massively was present in your stead.<br />
<br />
"<em>Farewell friends, farewell Mythos</em>" echoed throughout the Stonehill Market. Players congregated and crowded the area to praise <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/mythos/"><em>Mythos</em></a> and say their goodbyes. "<em>I don't know what game to play next,</em>" cried several others. It's the people behind the characters that matter, the emotions are real, honest, and believable. The death of any MMOG is always a disheartening experience but it also brings cause to celebrate and forge a lasting adventure into a lifetime memory.<br />
<br />
Several <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/19/max-schaefer-thanks-mythos-community/">appreciative and ever thankful <em>Mythos</em> developers</a> were of course present. Lead Developer, Travis Baldree spawned a cataclysmic event for the players to partake in that lasted well into the night. <em>Mythos</em> players joked that it took a crashed server to defeat them as they settled in for the fireworks. <em>Mythos</em> CM, Tiggs made her presence felt by continually talking and laughing with the community. As the final seconds approached the world quaked, and before <em>Mythos</em> collapsed offline the lasting words ringed out: "<em>You will be remembered</em>." It was a very fitting tribute and gracious sentiment indeed. It was a good nine months, and we hope to see <em>Mythos</em> back again one day.<br />

The woes continue at Flagship Studios. It was just announced that the <em>Mythos</em> beta will shutdown tonight. The official time slotted for its cease of operations is at July 18th, 2008 at 11:59 CST. Community manager Tiggs left the message on<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/mythos-hellgate-forums-scheduled-to-die-tonight/"> the forums which are also due to close</a> at the same time. <br /><br /><em>"We, the ancient elders of Uld are issuing this warning to all citizens and travelers. Hurry! The great darkness that once plagued Uld is returning. Everyone is ordered to close down their shops and prepare. We predict the when night is at its peak the darkness will arrive. The ancient elders of Uld will be leaving immediately in order to preserve the lore of this wonderful world. Citizens please prepare thyself and know that the elders will be back from their travels some day."</em><br /><br />Flagship Studios claims that the <em>Mythos</em> beta is going on a hiatus. That's pretty vague term associated with the closure of a beta that stems from a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/hanbitsoft-barbs-flagship-studios/">financial and legal crisis</a> at a development studio. It does signal a possible return later, and we do hope <em>Mythos</em> continues development in the near feature and sees a well-deserved release. Lead developer on <em>Mythos</em>, Travis Baldree<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/lead-dev-travis-baldree-updates-mythos-community-and-uncertainty/"> recently posted on the forums</a> expressing his thanks and gratitude along with his uncertainty for how long the <em>Mythos</em> beta would remain operational. The message was very brief, and didn't give any specific clues as to when, if ever, the forums will be back. Tiggs simply said: "We would like to thank everyone for being a part of this wonderful community and we hope to see you all again soon."<br /><br />This comes after <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/flagship-studios">Flagship</a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/12/flagship-studios-its-worse-than-that-hes-dead-jim/">was forced to lay off almost its entire staff.</a> Presently, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/hanbitsoft-ceo-claims-ownership-rights-to-hellgate-london-and-my/">HanbitSoft is trying to get its hands on both projects</a>, but both companies face legal hurdles that must be overcome before the plan can move forward. Lead <a href="http://www.mythos.com"><em>Mythos</em></a> developer Travis Baldree <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/lead-dev-travis-baldree-updates-mythos-community-and-uncertainty/">made a forum post</a> earlier this week expressing his hope that the team will be able to get back together and resume work on its game. <div align="left">So, there I was, about to enter the Upper Kingsway Sewers for Mac Kenzie to help him create a strange brew, when I see that Tiggs announced that the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/01/hellgate-london-subscriptions-temporarily-offline/">subscriptions</a> for <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/hellgate-london/">Hellgate: London</a></em> are now live. She also went on to say that they are only live for Visa and Mastercard but they are working on the other options.<br /><br />Who is Tiggs? Well, <a href="http://plaguelands.com/?p=272">she was</a> the Director of Community Relations for <em>Star Wars Galaxies</em> until she quit a couple years ago. Now she seems to be the official announcement maker on the <a href="http://forums.hellgatelondon.com/showthread.php?t=29323">forums</a> and in-game.<br /><br />Subscription is $9.99 a month. Now I don't know if it is worth it yet, but they promise a lot of goodies for the future. It is an MMO-like fee for a game that is not <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/01/is-hellgate-an-mmo-or-not/"><em>really</em> an MMO</a>, but I am having a lot of fun playing it.<br /><br />The official benefits of subscription to <em>Hellgate: London</em> are after the jump.</div>
