But the good news -- aside from the fact that buying test access also involves owning the game when it launches for real -- is that you can get away with dropping substantially less cash for a little while longer. Landmark is on Steam as an early access title, and it's currently having a sale that shaves 66% off of every founder's pack available right now.

Due to the sale, prices range from $6.79 for the lowest tier to $33.99 for the highest. Already bought one of the entry packs? You can also pick up an upgrade for your founder's pack at a similar discount, so if you bought the lowest tier a while back you can upgrade to the top for a cool $27.20. EVE Online
If you've always wanted to get in the business of blowing up internet spaceships, now might be the time. Steam is currently offering the EVE Online Amarr starter pack as a weekend sale item, priced at 75% below normal. For $4.98, you'll receive your first month of EVE Online game time in addition to a Sarum Magnate frigate, some exploration equipment, a few skill books, and a skill booster -- all of which will look great after they're pried off your frozen corpse and mounted on a null-sec predator's mantle.

Purchasing EVE from CCP's official site runs you about $14, so the Steam sale represents a decent bit of savings. However, it is worth noting that Steam EVE accounts are not eligible for character transfers, and you must access the game through Steam to access your bonus starting items.

The deal ends October 28th.

Star Trek Online for $3.75? Make it so, Steam! That's right, Cryptic's sci-fi MMO is on sale on Steam today for a paltry three bucks and change, making it the perfect time for anyone who has considered taking the helm of a starship to do just that.

Not only is the game dirt-cheap, but it's also the Star Trek Online Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes a variety of exclusive goodies for aspiring spacefarers. Buyers will receive a set of uniforms from the original Star Trek series, two unique emotes that should be familiar to any fan of the series (the Klingon blood wine toast and the infamous "KHAAAN!"), the exclusive NX ship registry prefix, and the Automated Defense Battery ship item, which "grants any ship a passive 360 arc attack power with a short range." To call the huge 1.3 patch to Global Agenda ambitious would almost be an understatement, considering how much of the game's basic structure was rewritten. It was so ambitious, in fact, that there were several features that wound up being slightly delayed from the initial release. And while the focus of late has been on the game's shift in subscription model (namely to the complete absence of one), several of the remaining features have just been deployed to the game's test servers in time for the holiday weekend.

One of the bigger additions is the persistent PvE zone being added, the Sonoran Desert, aimed at players between level 5 and 15. On top of that, the team is adding in the option to Salvage unwanted equipment for parts, a persistent defense raid for players past level 30, and the addition of consumable items. While the holiday weekend is set to be the first testing weekend of several, it's the ideal time to get a feel for the next major addition to the game. Global Agenda players are encouraged to check the changes out, and new players would be well-served to remember that the game is on sale right through July 4th on Steam.

Friday's news of the Perils of Summer sale had some great deals, but it looks like Steam isn't done with MMO sales quite yet. The powers-that-be at Steam surprised players today with news of a sale on EVE Online.

Not just any sale, however; EVE Online: Tyrannis is priced at 90% off. Customers taking advantage of the sale will pay $1.99 for the full game and 30 days of free gameplay.

If you want in on this, you'll need to hurry, because this is one of Steam's "today only" sales, and you've got less than 24 hours to take advantage. Check out the sale page for EVE Online to purchase, and if you're not an MMO-only gamer, you may want to take a peek at all of their today-only sales.

Play it safe. Stay inside. Save big. So sayeth Steam during their Perils of Summer sale. While we assume the exhortations to stay inside and avoid the big yellow thing in the sky is a joke, there's no denying that there are some great prices to be had on MMOs.

The sale is on now and runs through July 4th, and offers range from 33% to 66% off of standard prices. 13 MMOs are up for grabs, including Champions Online for $6.79, the Guild Wars Trilogy for $26.79, and the suddenly subscription-free Global Agenda for $26.79.
