<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/spacetime-studios-teases-arcane-legends/">While we knew it was coming</a>, it is still nice <a href="http://www.spacetimestudios.com/content.php?416-Arcane-Legends">to get official confirmation</a>: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/spacetime-studios/">Spacetime Studios</a> has announced <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/arcane-legends/"><em>Arcane Legends</em></a>, its latest MMO for iOS, Android, and Chrome.<br />
<br />
With <em>Arcane Legends</em>, Spacetime Studios is going back to its fantasy roots. Instead of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/pocket-legends/"><em>Pocket Legends'</em></a> more traditional MMO combat, however, <em>Arcane Legends</em> will feature action combat full of combos and button-mashing. During the combat, a rage meter will allow players to activate powerful abilities when it's completely full.<br />
<br />
The three classes announced for the game are the Warrior, Rogue, and Sorcerer. <em>Arcane Legends</em> will support both co-op and PvP gameplay.<br />
<br />
CEO <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/gary-gattis">Gary Gattis</a> thinks that <em>Arcane Legends</em> is different enough from previous Spacetime endeavors to justify its development: "With every Legends title we are focused on bringing something distinct to cross-platform gaming. With <em>Arcane Legends</em> we set out to create an action RPG with a clever and funny story, meaningful multiplayer gameplay and above all furious fast-paced tactical combat."<br />
<br />
Massively will be getting its first look at<em> Arcane Legends </em>at <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/e3-2012">E3</a> next month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/arcane-legends-officially-announced/">Arcane Legends officially announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 15:30:00 EST. Life, death, and a return from the grave: That sums up the life of a vampire, but it also sums up the journey of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/spacetime-studios/">Spacetime Studios</a>. What do the two have in common? The studio's upcoming title called <a href="http://darklegends.com"><em>Dark Legends</em></a>. At <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/GDC-2012/">GDC 2012</a> this week, Massively had a chance to talk with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/gary-gattis/">Gary Gattis</a>, CEO of Spacetime Studios, and we got a first-hand look at how the company successfully created a game in which people can play together on laptops, tablets, phones, and virtually any mobile device available.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/03/07/gdc-2012-a-look-at-dark-legends-with-spacetime-studios/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GDC 2012: A look at Dark Legends with Spacetime Studios</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/03/07/gdc-2012-a-look-at-dark-legends-with-spacetime-studios/">GDC 2012: A look at Dark Legends with Spacetime Studios</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 07 Mar 2012 19:00:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left; ">
	<a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/spacetime-studios">Spacetime Studios</a>, the developer of popular mobile MMO titles <em><a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/pocket-legends">Pocket Legends</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/star-legends">Star Legends</a></em>, has announced that it has begun work on a new mobile game following the Legends format. The new title, about which we know virtually nothing aside from the fact that it exists, is called <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/dark-legends"><em>Dark Legends</em></a>. Ominous, right? DroidGamers reports that Spacetime Studios CEO <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/gary-gattis">Gary Gattis</a> has stated that "<em>Dark Legends</em> will be a bit of a departure from the formula that <em>Pocket Legends</em> established as we innovate on lessons learned." So there's clearly a new twist to the studio's standard gameplay, but we'll just have to wait and see what that twist may be.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/01/03/spacetime-studios-working-on-new-mobile-mmo-dark-legends/">Spacetime Studios working on new mobile MMO Dark Legends</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 03 Jan 2012 21:00:00 EST. If you've ever wondered about the feasibility of cross-platform MMOs, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/spacetime-studios">Spacetime Studios</a> is here to tell you that it's a reality. The company announced an industry first earlier today when it removed the barriers between players who use different devices and operating systems.<br />
<br />
The company's <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/pocket-legends"><em>Pocket Legends</em></a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/star-legends"><em>Star Legends</em></a> mobile MMOs share a single global server, and access to said server is now open to users of desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.<br />
<br />
"There have always been technical walls between players on different platforms," said CEO <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/gary-gattis">Gary Gattis</a>. "Now, people are free to play on the device they choose with anyone, anywhere, anytime, whether they are at home or on-the-go."<br />

<a href="http://www.spacetimestudios.com/">Spacetime Studios</a>, the makers of the wildly successful <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pocket-legends-3d-mmo/id355767097?mt=8"><em>Pocket Legends</em></a> MMO, has just announced a new influx of funding that will enable continued development on the Spacetime Engine and licensing of said development platform to other game makers beginning in 2011.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/30705/Spacetime_Gets_Investment_Announces_CrossPlatform_Play_For_iOS_PC_MMO.php">Gamasutra</a> reports that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/spacetime-studios">Spacetime</a> is also claiming an industry first for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/pocket-legends"><em>Pocket Legends</em></a> in terms of the ability for players on Windows PC, Android, and iOS systems to play on the same shared servers. While there have been many attempts at reproducing the MMORPG experience on Apple's incredibly popular iPhone and iTouch devices, the limitations in technology and connection speed have kept these applications from hitting the big time. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/spacetime-studios/">Spacetime Studios</a> hopes to change all that, as they just revealed a new MMO for the app store: <a href="http://www.spacetimestudios.com/"><em>Pocket Legends</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Boasting 3D graphics, three classes and accessibility across iPhone, iTouch and iPad devices, <em>Pocket Legends</em> might be considered an "MMO-lite," but it still contains all the necessary ingredients. Players can choose from one of three anthropomorphic animal classes -- a cat sorceress, a bird archer, and a bear tank -- and head off for a career full of dungeon running, chest looting, and stat leveling. Grouping is also possible (and encouraged!), with thousands of players connecting over a server. Spacetime promises that players can not only play <em>Pocket Legends</em> on almost all of Apple's portable devices (except the first edition of the iPhone), but the game can be accessed via WiFi, 3G and even EDGE networks.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/04/spacetimes-pocket-legends-hits-apples-app-store/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Spacetime's Pocket Legends hits Apple's app store</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/04/spacetimes-pocket-legends-hits-apples-app-store/">Spacetime's Pocket Legends hits Apple's app store</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 04 Apr 2010 20:00:00 EST. We've spoken previously about the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/spacetime-studios-reveals-character-development-for-blackstar/">unique-looking</a> space-combat MMO <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/blackstar/" style="font-style: italic;">Blackstar</a>, being developed by <a href="http://www.spacetimestudios.com/">Spacetime Studios</a> -- how previous publisher NCsoft had <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/ncsoft-drops-spacetime-studios-not-all-is-lost-as-development-o/">chosen to cancel</a> their connection with the title, and how Spacetime recently <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/spacetime-studios-regains-blackstar-rights-from-ncsoft/">regained the IP</a>, to continue development on their own. From the look and sound of everything that's been shown to the public so far, this game has the potential to be NCsoft's "one that got away".<br /><br />Intrigued by the goings-on with the studio, we contacted Spacetime's President and Executive Producer Gary Gattis to see if he could give us a peek behind the curtains -- or photon displacement cascade, as the case may be -- at how development on <span style="font-style: italic;">Blackstar</span> is progressing. Mr. Gattis not only graciously consented to the interview request, but also gave us 4 pieces of concept art to share with our readers; art that has only made us long even more for the game's eventual release. Read the full interview after the jump!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/blackstar-concept-art/">Star Legends</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/blackstar-concept-art/#4276090"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/teamwork1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/blackstar-concept-art/#4276088"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/map_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/blackstar-concept-art/#4276081"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/delta7cutscene_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/blackstar-concept-art/#4276078"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/action1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/blackstar-concept-art/#4213351"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/spacelegends7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/blackstar-exclusive-interview/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Blackstar exclusive interview</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/blackstar-exclusive-interview/">Blackstar exclusive interview</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 16 May 2008 09:00:00 EST. <br />Earlier this year it was reported that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ncsoft/">NCsoft</a> had <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/ncsoft-drops-spacetime-studios-not-all-is-lost-as-development-o/">cancelled development</a> on <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/blackstar/">Blackstar</a></em>, <a href="http://www.spacetimestudios.com/">Spacetime Studios</a>' intriguing science fiction MMO. Unwilling to let that deter them, the studio continued to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/spacetime-studios-reveals-character-development-for-blackstar/">develop the title</a>, hoping that an enterprising (no pun intended) backer would com along to rescue the studio from limbo.<br /><br />Well, there's even better news: Spacetime has newly acquired the rights to the IP, meaning that complete creative control is in their hands. From the press release: "<em>After two years of development, the Blackstar universe is quite near and dear to our hearts" said Gary Gattis, executive producer and co-founder of Spacetime Studios. "Owning the IP as well as the engine and tool set puts a tremendous amount of potential in our hands. With all the developed components under the Spacetime team's control, the options for the IP are diversified.</em>" <br /><br />Congratulations, Spacetime! Expect an exclusive interview to appear on Massively very soon.<br /><br />[Thanks, Gary!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/spacetime-studios-regains-blackstar-rights-from-ncsoft/">Spacetime Studios regains Blackstar rights from NCsoft</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 09 May 2008 11:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/14951">TenTonHammer have an interview up with Space Time Studios, discussing their brand new "epic science fantasy" MMO.</a> This is the first serious bit of news to come out of the studio, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/13/spacetime-figures-out-how-to-get-a-game-made-in-china/">other than their art director visiting China.</a><br /><br />Space Time Studios are <span style="font-style: italic;">still</span> keeping quiet about major details of their new MMO, but we now know that the primary focus will be real-time space flight &amp; combat, and it's epic science fantasy. Whatever that means. Presumably kobolds riding beholders and firing laser rifles at each other. Formed in late 2005, Space Time Studios includes many game industry vets that have worked on such titles as <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-wars-galaxies"><span style="font-style: italic;">Star Wars Galaxies,</span></a><span style="font-style: italic;"></span><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-wars-galaxies"><span style="font-style: italic;"> </span></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-wars-galaxies"><span style="font-style: italic;">Jump to Lightspeed,</span></a> <span style="font-style: italic;">Wing Commander</span> ... and even a <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em> escapee.<br /><br />Major details and a name for their project shouldn't be too far off, so stay tuned.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/first-look-at-space-time-studios/">First look at Space Time Studios</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 21 Nov 2007 21:30:00 EST.
