Last we heard from <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/joel-bylos/">Joel Bylos</a>, creative director for <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/the-secret-world">The Secret World</a></em>, he had locked himself away in his bunker and hunkered down for the end of the world. But don't think that means we've seen the last of him! In fact, Bylos continued his end of days video log from within that fortified haven. How well did he actually cope being sequestered away from the world with only Zoe, the two-dimensional bunker-mate? Watch and see for yourself in the final video after the break.<br />

In other news, Bylos also hosted a livestream party today in London's Crusades nightclub and answered questions from fans. We scooped up a few bits of news amid the din of revelers. First, the dev team is currently working on Black Ops, special dynamic PvP events that occur out in the world. In relation to that, Bylos revealed that there won't be multi-faction cabals because the team will be stepping up factional conflict; one way they will do this is by adding PvP XP. Outside of PvP, puzzle raids are also in the works for groups of players to solve together.<br />

Next, according to Bylos, folks are "guaranteed to see Venice before Tokyo, but it is not a new zone." In response to queries about player housing, Bylos answered that the team has to see where it falls on the list of priorities after things settle down with the new payment model.<br />
<br />
And last but not least, the special End of Days events will run through January 7th. The ship and capsule technologies in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a> enable you to traverse solar systems in mere seconds, unleash hails of destruction that vaporize space stations, and provides <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/gallery/eve-visual-guide-before-you-undock/989719/">immortality through cloning</a>... but you have to stow prostitutes, slaves, marines, and livestock in a single cargo hold? Sloshing around in there with your fuel, no less. <br /><br />While the commingling of your livestock with the military forces you've rescued is hardly ranked as a critical issue in the game, not having enough room in your cargo bay for jump drive fuel <em>is</em>. This is not a completely new expansion, just a significant update they will release in August before <em>EVE</em>'s (as-yet-unnamed) winter expansion. While CCP hasn't released the complete rundown of <em>Apocrypha</em> 1.5's features and changes, they have announced a few highlights: <br /><br />
<ul>
    <li>Perhaps the biggest changes in 1.5 will be <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/factional-warfare">factional warfare</a> improvements. Beyond responding to the lag issues many players have been reporting with factional warfare, CCP is going to introduce Loyalty Points (LP) for kills and captures, and each militia will have its own LP store where militia players can cash in for items unique to that faction. </li>

    <li>Several Level 4 <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/epic-mission-arcs">epic mission arcs</a> will be introduced, tied to specific races in New Eden. CCP t0rfifrans writes: <em>"These captivating stories deal with moral ambiguity, intrigue, honor, and some people's lack of it. This should come as no surprise to those who know EVE and what we are about. As before with the epic arc that was released with Apocrypha, they provide a deep, interesting story, where your choices influence the outcome." </em></li>

<ul>
    <li>One of the long awaited buffs for <a href="http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Item_Database:Ships:Black_Ops">Black Ops battleships</a> will arrive: specialized cargo holds. The first use of this system will be to give Black Ops ships fuel bays, but this feature paves the way for similar additions to other ship classes in the future. For instance, some ships may one day be given ammo bays, freeing up valuable cargo space. </li>

    <li>Rigs will be offered in different sizes, with frigate and cruiser sized rigs introduced to the game. These new small and medium rigs will be cheaper to buy or manufacture, and thus provide a lower cost way for players to trick out their ships. </li>
</ul>
CCP t0rfifrans also <a href="http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&amp;bid=672">dropped a few hints</a> about the forthcoming winter expansion, which will *not* be <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/walking-in-stations"><em>Walking in Stations</em></a>. CCP Chronotis followed up his <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/eve-onlines-rumored-orca-ship-unveiled/">announcement of the Orca</a> by outlining some big changes to ships that are some of the mainstays of industry in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a>. <em>"Much has changed in EVE since many of the hauler of mining class ships were introduced. Our colleagues over at <a href="http://www.bigdownload.com">Big Download</a> have listed several PC games in development that they call <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/09/26/black-ops-pc-games/">"Black Ops" projects.</a> The idea is that these games are operating out of sight, under the radar; nobody knows what's going on. It's all very hush hush and mysterious. The game industry and secrecy go hand in hand, after all.<br /><br />We're bringing this up because there are a bunch of MMOs in the list. In fact, they pretty much dominate it. You may or may not have heard, but we're coming to <em><a href="http://planetside.station.sony.com/">Planetside</a></em> to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/come-frag-massively-in-planetside/">kick some worldwide hide</a>. At least that's the plan, but whatever happens -- win or lose -- I'm just excited to be a part of an epic, cataclysmic in-game event. It's the kind of thing I've always wanted to see more of but somehow I rarely see these sorts of things happen in massively multiplayer online games. There are smaller yearly events that are always fun, sure. It would just be nice to see more events minimally on the scale of <em><a href="http://www.coh.com/">City of Heroes'</a></em> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/13/the-rikti-return-to-paragon-city/">Rikti invasions</a> or today's Planetside Black Ops event. <br /><br />Whether or not developers haven't really explored this area because they fear player backlash is beyond me. I personally don't see how creating a dynamic world that keeps its players guessing at the next twist or turn isn't worth a little risk.
