This is a tragedy of mental illness. It isn't really gun-related, unless someone is really foolish enough to argue that the weapon of choice was important against defenseless elementary school children. His handguns would have sufficed; a shotgun would have sufficed; a revolver would have sufficed; no one is realistically proposing restrictions on these things beyond the heavy restrictions that already exist. Nor should they.
Decades ago, we closed more than three quarters of the institutions in this country. The people would have been in those institutions are in mainstream society now, generally dosed with many different medications. No one would argue that suicide and mass murder has become more common with them among us. It's time to reevaluate the experiment of taking apart the institutional system we used to have, no matter how uncomfortable a subject.
Finally, AOL, I find your overt politicking on this subject to be repulsive. You are grading representatives for their votes (e.g., "D-") when it is their job to *defend* our freedoms. It is a basic moral wrong to punish Americans for a crime they didn't commit, and that's exactly what people like you would be doing by impugning Second Amendment rights any further. You're biased, you're slanted, you're poorly informed, and you're not serving your user base or yourselves by making those facts as clear as you have.
Oregon shouldn't have any control over what he does with the rain that falls from the sky onto his property. So he dug some holes and kept the water there. How does this infringe on anyone else's rights?
True. I worry about that kid, with the drug-fueled three-ways the parents are in. Rebecca Gayheart was on drugs in that video, but was pregnant at that time.
Not to mention she killed a nine-year-old and pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter in the case.
I don't believe in limiting principles of equality to government money. If sex discrimination is wrong, then it shouldn't be practiced, one way or another, by anyone.

Unfortunate that they're in charge of a kid.
