The Daily Grind: What's on your MMO bucket list?

Apr 4th 2012 12:58PM (Massively)
I was in small bounty hunting gang in Ultima Online 14 years ago. We claimed few extremely high bounties (200-400k gold at that time = cost of decent Toyota). Now I want to create mercenary gang in MechWarrior Online. Of course if the game will allow anything like that.

Previously I wanted to do this in EVE Online but its design is too dumb to do so (bounty can be claimed by criminal's own alt for example).

Still doesn't worth subscription fee.

EU servers imploding into two (Hand of Blah-Blah and RP server) - it's fastest player base decay I've ever seen. Usually this process taking 6+ months after release. Except for previous EA product (Warhammer Online) it was comparable.

Money is imaginable product without actual value (only a toilet can turn paper money into valuable asset) - I don't see any point not to trade lump sum for another imaginable product like company stock or some interweb pixels.

I don't want to frame my friends to pay for this beta as I did =(

I wish they implemented DAoC-like open world PvP with all that finesse they use in PvE development...

CCP reiterates anti-pay-to-win stance for EVE microtransactions

Apr 3rd 2012 9:05AM (Massively)
Do they have actual content update - like new null-sec space or new WH content - instead of PI mini-games, nerfs, 4 new ships, debugs disguised as yearly expansion? Are they going F2P or implementing walking in stations soon? Is there DX11 graphics implementation already? Are they going to limit force projection / jumps to turn blob warfare into strategy where people have to spread guarding fleets across whole sovereignty instead of hotdropping 100 supercaps on lonely pirate? Until at least one of these questions answered "yes" I percieve all "news" about EVE/CCP as attempt to save stagnating (sinking?) company via spamvertisement.

Leaderboard: Ultima Online vs. EverQuest vs. Asheron's Call

Played all 3 for years. UO is phenomenal sandbox. If developers renewed graphics - I'd resubscribed again. Same with original DAoC though.

World of Tanks' patch 7.2 locks and loads tomorrow

Sadly, I'm too new to the game (3 days, lvl4 light tank) to appraise how exactly 0.7.2 is good for me?

I've considered myself harcore MMO player with 14 years of experience started in Ultima Online and idea of tank battles without craft and actual role-playing part seemed to be too "arcadish". However under "pressure" of RL friends (almost everyone play WoT) I've tried the game 3 days ago - and it's a blast. Especially after 3 months of dull open world PvP on Ilum in SWTOR and extremely slow and overcomplicated EVE Online where you can lose ships costing weeks and months of time to craft and purchase. No wonder there are like 400.000-1.000.000 people online in WoT at any given moment.

EVE Online declares war (more efficiently)

Mar 30th 2012 7:08AM (Massively)
It seems my 3 accounts will remain frozen for at least +14 months: this "expansion" has no use for me, hi-sec and WH carebear.

I wish CCP used polls to ask every player what do they really want? Including frozen accounts. Especially owners of frozen accounts - which I suspect are like x20 compared to amount of active accounts. And follow common sense instead of fantasies about full-scale galaxy warfare and $1000 pixel pants. There is not much fun in blowing up internetpixelships which costs days/weeks of time to craft/purchase.

For me it's a miracle this game didn't get perma-running "arenas" with ladder after almost 10 years of development - there sociopaths and overachievers could blow up each other all day long instead of miners and traders during hulkageddons and burning Jita madness.

Enter at Your Own Rift: A carnival recap and a war on the horizon

TRION experimenting with open world PvP - which good.

Bad part is to implement not-so-easy PvP related quests tied to gear progression which is extremely frustrating for some players. Like "win 3 warzones" daily quest in SWTOR could take up to 5 hours to finish and made me hate warzones - in less than 2 weeks (and I like PvP).
