Guild Wars 2 to provide private server functionality? [Updated]
Aug 29th 2011 5:55PM (Massively)... just like any other MMO where Dungeons and PvP happen on instances. Nothing about this changes the fact that the game has a massive open world where you can play with any other player on the same server. Folks get "tizzy" because folks like to complain, and just mentioning the word "instance" make them cry that the game will be exactly like GW1, where all gameplay was instanced. That couldn't be further from the truth. Instances are used where they make sense, and open world where that makes sense.

Aug 29th 2011 5:03PM (Massively)I was actually impressed with the range of a Ele in one of the PvP videos from Gamescom, he was throwing some fireballs from a long distance, must farther than what other classes seemed to be able to achieve.

Jan 16th 2010 1:37PM (Massively)Star Wars was always about Luke vs. Darth Vader, X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter. On the other hand, the fun in Star Trek is seeing all those different people working together to overcome their foes; the captain gives orders but is not personally handling the ship, they always send parties to ground missions. But for the MMO, Cryptic chose to make each ship a single player affair, probably to make it easier for players to play without others. I think they really missed the point.
Intel shows off glasses-free 3D demo -- now this is more like it
Jan 10th 2010 2:46AM (Engadget)Now... that was 17 years ago at the very least, since I know I was just a kid when I saw that (I'm 32). I know it was just a prototype back then, but are these people really telling me that the tech for 3D TVs didn't get even a little better after all this time? What happened, these companies forgot they had already developed the tech and started all over?
Liquavista shows off low-power, color e-paper display
Jan 6th 2010 10:45PM (Engadget)It should not be compared with current LCD tech, because it's not meant to be used as current LCD tech; it's an evolution of E-paper tech. I'm sure you understand what I mean by that, so let's not discuss semantics.
Liquavista shows off low-power, color e-paper display
Jan 6th 2010 5:59PM (Engadget)This looks awesome. There is pretty much none of that inverted-color mess that takes one second to display the picture, as you see on the Sony E-Reader. Being that a prototype, I'm throughly impressed.
