The Daily Grind: How long do you really plan to play a new title?

Apr 3rd 2011 1:06AM (Massively)
Hasn't been one in years that I have planned to play beyond the "free" month. There have been a couple here and there that caught my interest for an additional month or two but nothing like UO and SWG once did with their multi-year commitments :)

Star Trek Online pushes its player-generated mission Foundry to live servers

Mar 28th 2011 3:42PM (Massively)
So awesome :) Now, we get to pay for the privilege of making our own content to play, does this come with a paycheck or a royalty check for a cut of every penny cryptic makes when someone plays that which WE create? Didn't think so.

Rogers throttles World of Warcraft across Canada

Mar 27th 2011 2:09PM (Massively)
@chum Maybe reading of the article will help? :) Its not WOW that's being throttled, its their use of bit-torrent to push updates that is being throttled. If you disable the p2p filesharing bs then you are no longer throttled. See, Blizzard, rather than paying for the hosting and the pipeline to get patches to its millions of customers uses your isp to do it for them. Your ISP and YOU are being screwed by Blizzard. It really isn't that complicated.

Rogers throttles World of Warcraft across Canada

@(Unverified) Why is blizzard allowed to get away with using up everyone's bandwidth without paying their fair share? This is a company that rakes in billions every year and part of that is because they screw over everyone's bandwidth as a "cost-effective" solution to their actually having to host the patch files themselves.

The Daily Grind: How long have you been playing MMOs?

Mar 12th 2011 3:42PM (Massively)
For way way way too long. First ones I played were text adventures over BBS systems. Not truly an MMO, more like a forum game today. Have been here since the start and probably through its heyday to today. TOR will probably be my last one unless something truly remarkable shows up, and so far nothing is even remotely promising. Hell, TOR probably won't last past the first month like most of these things anymore :(

The Daily Grind: Are you a keyboard luddite?

Feb 25th 2011 12:07PM (Massively)
Every single solitary developer that has released an FPS across platforms has been asked to allow pc gamers to play with console gamers. They have stated unequivocally, that, regardless of the player, the gamepad player cannot compete against a keyboard + mouse player.

If your claims had any merit the reverse of the above would be true.

Warhammer Online offering free server transfers as prelude to two server shutdowns

Feb 8th 2011 1:51AM (Massively)
@Rayne26 Definitely time for this to go free to play. Follow turbine's model or some variation thereof and I think Warhammer could see a resurgence. But what do I know, I am just a consumer :)

The Daily Grind: Is the sub fee preventing you from playing DC Universe Online?

Jan 24th 2011 9:13AM (Massively)
Yes. For the most part it is the idea of paying a subscription fee for what is essentially a single player action game. I beta tested the game and it was complete and utter shite. Then again a fool and their money is soon parted, what other explanation can there be for Smedley and Cao to still have jobs.

"Fallout belongs to us": Bethesda lays claim to Fallout MMO

Eff Bethesda and their craptastic 1989 gameplay.

Rise and Shiny recap: Star Trek Online

Jan 9th 2011 5:26PM (Massively)
The only thing that keeps me from re-subbing to this game is the ground combat. If there was a way to never ever have to deal with ground combat I would be all over this :)
