Halo 3 not HD: runs at 640p, pixel counters claim

Oct 3rd 2007 12:59PM (Joystiq)
Okay, I just want to ask something here: Who effing cares? There's a reason games like Mario Kart, Chrono Trigger and Super Smash bros are still played to this day, and it's not because they look pretty.

I'm sick and god damned tired of this fixation everyone has with graphics. As we've seen from so many of the mediocre games on the PS3, good graphics does not a good game make. Why do you think the Wii is so popular? It's fun to play.

Oh, and to Hotnutz, I have one thing to say: Shove it, fanboy. HALO 3 is a damn fun game to play, even if the storyline IS sort of weak.

Microsoft defending Xbox Live price

Aug 1st 2007 4:25PM (Joystiq)
I have never had a problem with Xbox live, aside from lag caused by my old internet connection not being fast enough. That, and the strange way that the 360 mike seems to garble and distort messages sent through live on older games.

Xbox live is actually an excellent system for online play. There's a wide array of features, and in my experience, the staff MS hires for tech support are far more welcoming than some.

And now, specific responses:

=====================

@Chaz: There IS a shut up button, actually. It's called "mute". And if you don't like a player, you don't have to play with them again, you can 'avoid' them. Besides, no one said you had to listen to some of the idiots on live anyways. And who's to say PSN won't be just as bad, or worse, once people actually start playing on it?
=====================
@Josh: I had to have a similar setup with my Dell, once. A lot of university residences have encrypted wireless networks that are nearly impossible to gain access to without an IT account over the computer. As such, it was easier to simply route my XBL connection through ethernet to my laptop, and bridge the LAN and Wireless connections together. It produced a lot of lag on XBL though.
=============================
@Negativecool:

You only make yourself look foolish when you insult people who have differing opinions from your own. It makes you appear somewhat closed minded. What all of the 'dumbasses' have been saying about understanding the cost of live does not mean they're DEFENDING Microsoft for charging them for it.

Would I like XBL gold to be free? Definitely. Do I like the fact that Microsoft charges for it? Not particularly, but it's an incredibly affordable service, and I don't mind paying for it in order to unlock online play.

@Spitkicker:

Everyone's a big man on the internet. Nobody cares about how rich or hardworking you supposedly are. People like you annoy me.

Sony's Peter Dille: 'We're attacking online very, very aggressively'

Aug 1st 2007 3:37PM (Joystiq)
They actually do have a solution to the heat problem now, though it's not produced by Microsoft, but by third party hardware developers. It's called inter-cooler, and it's a little attachment you add to the back of your 360. Works like a charm, I swear that my load times for games have even decreased. But there's also the issue of the disc-eating....Though I've been having less troubles with that lately.

Guitar Hero II song packs now Live, pricey

Typical. A company that produces games for the 360 screws up royally, and everyone instantly jumps on the "OMG EVIL MICROSOFT LOL!" bandwagon. MS is a corporation, guys. Get used to it. I agree with several of the other comments here in that Sony would be doing the same thing if they were the ones who were ahead of the game.

Hell, with 'horses ass' attitudes of their marketing execs lately, I wouldn't be at all surprised if things would be worse with the PS3.

Microsoft isn't to blame. Don't boycott the 360, just boycott Red Octane if you're really that pissed.
