HTC EVO 4G is Sprint's Android-powered knight in superphone armor, we go hands-on

Mar 23rd 2010 5:23PM (Engadget)
@ThatDudeSolo

My only problem is Sense UI. Not a fan. And who's to guarantee that you'll get Android updates in a timely fashion. Look at the Hero on Sprint. Sure it'll get 2.1 soon, but it's all up to HTC to make the updates available due to having the skin on top of Android.

That and Sense UI can't be much different on Android than it is on Windows Mobile. Yet here they say it's a revolution, but on the HD2 it's pretty, but not good enough. I understand the hate for Windows Mobile, but what are the differences in the Sense UI on Android vs WinMo?

Otherwise, this is a gorgeous phone. I just hope they release it with stock Android on it. Love the huge screen and HDMI out and an actual usable camera.

The "native resolution" is for LCD displays. All LCD displays have a native resolution that is referring to the fixed resolution of the panel. Essentially, an LCD panel has a fixed number of pixels and cannot display more or less pixels than that. A CRT monitor can change resolutions while an LCD has to scale the image to "change resolutions" causing a loss of image quality.

Most widescreen laptops (and LCD monitors up to 19") are set to 1440x900 or so now, while a larger LCD monitors (24"+) are 1920×1200. Most 22" monitors are set to 1680 x 1050.

All LCD displays list a maximum resolution, that is usually the native resolution.

I mostly use my cell now, but I like a good watch. I have an Invicta automatic that I wear now and then. And I have a Casio G-Shock that I wear occasionally.
