The Daily Grind: What dead game would you play in a second if it revived?

Shadowbane. I loved that game and nothing has come close to it since.

I did this a bit in WAR with PvP instancing and its far more satisfying.

Have they come up with any original names are they just pinching all of them from the Cthulhu mythos?

Wasteland Diaries: F2P?

@Vagrant Zero AFP= Another Failed Project and yes I know the name of the bloody game. The new version still has the rubbish driving, the dodgy gun play etc.

As far as FE goes. I remember getting a "free trial" for the game. The game kept crashing as I tried to get in. Once I finally did the first quest was broken. The solution from the devs "restart in a new area".

There are good F2P games out there. However merely turning failed MMOs into F2P is just way of ringing the last bits out of the IP.

Next game to go F2P I think is Earthrise. Its a buggy, laggy mess that will soon have few players.

Wasteland Diaries: F2P?

The reason it had low population is because FE a buggy and pretty lame mess. I betaed the game, then tried it after launch. Nothing was improved and the opening quest was bugged. I am amazed anyone still plays it and not shocked it went F2P

I would not hold out too much hope, I betaed GamersFirst AFP and its the same load of laggy buggy rubbish that was AFP.

Huge Earthrise patch brings major combat tweaks, bug fixes

I have to say that I played it in beta and was underwhelmed. I am now playing the full, thanks to Massively, and still find it rather lacking in fun. Its too bad because it had so much promise. Will stick with it through the "free" period, but on current form doubt I go any further.

Win a copy of Earthrise from Massively and Masthead Studios!

A copy of this game would be rather good fun methinks. Especially now they are heavy with the updates.

[UPDATED] Enter to win one of 20 APB: Reloaded closed beta keys from Massively!

I would love to see what they have done with the place.

Yeah, it seems they sent out too many keys and even if you put it in as soon as you were able you didn't necessarily get in. Instead of doing the decent thing and apologizing for sending out more keys than they were places they just ignore everyone who has been kept out.

Rumor: Realtime Worlds lays off staff, puts APB up for sale [Updated]

Aug 13th 2010 11:43AM (Massively)
Alas this is fairly predictable and I am sure quite a few people who played the game saw this coming. Its sad these people lost their jobs to be sure. Unfortunately the MMO market is a very competitive place and the APB was a pretty dire game. It had oodles of problems at launch and MMO gamers have little patience for pay-to-play betas. The fact it was rushed out early with lots of issues made it very clear the parent company needed the money.

In fact this is the market working as it should. You release a rubbish game and it will fail.

Might be a swift reminder to MMO companies that people will no longer put up with bug-filled, hacked trials in patience.
