Report: Tito Ortiz Arrested for Domestic Violence

Apr 26th 2010 3:18PM (MMA Fighting)
Oh man... it's bad enough when a dude hits a woman.. but for a PRO-FIGHTER to hit a woman.. that's just all sorts of wrong.
I truly hope this didn't happen as it appears- but if it did, I have no problem saying that my Punishment Athletics clothes (shorts and 2 shirts) will be heading to goodwill.

Kimbo Slice May Be Off UFC 113 Card as James Toney Speculation Mounts

Mar 4th 2010 2:29PM (MMA Fighting)
I'd pick Toney, though I'd be rooting for Kimbo.
I just don't see Kimbo as being able to take a high caliber punch like Toney would deliver.

UFC Suing Over PPV Pirating

Jan 6th 2010 9:51AM (MMA Fighting)
How I see it.

I think a lot of people just WOULDN'T pay for some of these fights- so they go to stream so they can still watch, which if anything is good for the UFC because it can get more fans or more people into the sport.
When there is a really good card, i'll pay for it, but some of the others I won't bother because it's a waste of money. Sure, UFC is losing $ short term with people pirating, but they gain long term by showcasing their fighters to people who would normally not watch the fight.

Dream Reprimands Aoki, Who Admits He Was 'Rude'

Jan 3rd 2010 1:34AM (MMA Fighting)
The point of a fight is to put the other guy out of commission either by KO, TKO or him tapping. If you have a lock, and he does not tap, you add more pressure. If he still doesn't tap, you have every right to keep going.
Hirota talked so much crap before this fight, and AOKI is usually a TOP NOTCH class act- I'm sure it was exactly as he was asking for. Remember, he GOT IN THE RING, and it was Hirota's choice not to tap. Any sane person would have tapped, but he was trying to be the big man.
I would have been pissed at the guy for not tapping too.
Cheers to AOKI, proving he does have some of the sickest submissions in the whole sport.

Kimbo Slice Talks 'TUF' Finale Victory

Dec 6th 2009 8:38PM (MMA Fighting)
I think it was the exact opposite of TOO MUCH respect actually. I think Houston tried a game plan that failed. He took Kimbo still for a brawler who is trying to be an MMA fighter.
Keeping Kimbo stepping to the left should have soon aggravated Kimbo's left knee- and then Kimbo gets frustrated and charges Houston making a mistake.
The problem was, Kimbo kept his composure and didn't do anything stupid as Houston thought he would.

The Point: Obama's Bow Enrages Critics

Nov 16th 2009 11:12AM (Sphere Lite)
It's called respect.
He's not bowing to show submissiveness.

People normally bow to each other there instead of shake hands, I saw this in years of living in Japan and Korea.

Now normally when a westerner is there, there will be a bow and a handshake, which is the greeting for both cultures.

That's what's going on here- There's a mutual bow and a hand shake.

Get a life people really.
If you want to help our country, support and stop fighting amongst yourselves.

Brock Lesnar Out of UFC 106 Main Event

Oct 26th 2009 4:45PM (MMA Fighting)
I bet Cain is on the phone with Dana right now begging to fight.

He barely broke a sweat vs. Rothwell and he's just begging to prove himself.

Heck, I say if Cain really wants it, then go for it.
Problem then is it leaves no Title fight on the card- which really hurts any UFC night.

UFC 104: Lyoto Machida Beats Mauricio Shogun Rua by Controversial Decision

Oct 25th 2009 3:56PM (MMA Fighting)
True- more tired does not mean lost.
Also, more hurt does not mean lost- I get that.

But what an observer needs to look it is who was the better fighter.
Which of the two people beat the other person.
By the 10-point must system (and nowhere is "points for head kick, no points for leg kick" mentioned in UFC rules) the judges, and us the observers need to look at everything for each round seperately

who controlled the pace
who was more aggressive (matters)
who landed the better shots (10 craps shots are nothing compared to a solid excellent shot)
who damaged the other person more

with each of these, I think Shogun did better in nearly every round.

I like Machida- but the problem with his elusive style is he needs to HURT the other guy to win. Simply dodging scores.. as you say, no points.

Each round, Shogun did more damage. Even if a good portion of it was LEG damage. He also REALLY hurt Machida's ribs and his face was cut in atleast 2 spots.

Each round save parts of the 3rd, Shogun was the aggressor.

Each round, the quality of shots that did connect were greater for Shogun. Even if Machida hit 2 for 1 (which he didn't), It doesn't matter because there was nothing there. I can let my son hit me 100 times, and I just hit him once and guess what.. I win the fight. (I will never do that BTW, just an example of quality of strikes)

Shogun also controlled the pace the whole fight. The two fighters were either at a stand still, or Shogun was the aggressor, which means the pace was set by HIS actions. If he was docile, noone did anything, if he moved in, they were striking. Machida never initiating sacrificed the pace control.

Thank you for taking the time to read.
