The Game Archaeologist mourns the end of EQMac

Feb 14th 2012 7:28PM (Massively)
Ya know, I'm a PC user, but after hearing about this, about how the mac version of the game has ran, it makes me want to buy a mac-based computer, just so that I can play with this wonderful community. I originally got into playing EQ back in the The Scars of Velious era, and I loved the gritty, rough life that followed every player. I never did get a character to a sufficiently high level (long story, but monthly fees are usually the down-fall) If what Furdinand said is true; if that is truely John Smedley's tweet, then I'd definitely consider joining the community.

The Mog Log: Throwing out the barriers

Sep 19th 2011 4:25PM (Massively)
I actually am a completely new player. I'm currently downloading the patches to log into FFXI for the first time ever. I've always been a FF fan, but I was a WoW gamer. WoW has just lost my interest, due to the fact that the server I play on is practically dead in the form of raiders that actually know what they're doing. Being on a day 1 server tends to do that, and I really don't want to have to dish out the money to transfer off, like all of my friends have done.
That being said, I've herd good things about FFXI, and I have always wanted to try it, but I'm in part a social gamer, and it's hard, nearly impossible for a new player to a world make new friends, since the world has been around for so long, and there hasn't been an epic release to attract new players, I worry that this transfer is going to be even harder on me, than the difficulty level associated with the game itself.
I just hope that this message gets across to FFXI gamers out there, and makes them consider the skill behind the player, and not so much the fact that they haven't been playing the game for the last couple of years.

I'd really like to try this out. Anyone have any more keys?

Final Fantasy Tactics sequel on the way

My opinion was that, sure Advance was a "watere'd down" version of Tactics (see in the ps version there were many more job classes, but there weren't charactor races. they were human, but you could get like chocobo, goblins, minatour, and even dragons in your party. your human, both male and female charactors could be any of a number of jobs, the starting being squire with only 3 advancments, archer, knight, and cleric. those in tune gave way to things like summoners, mages, dragoons, ninja... and I know what you're thinking, those are in advance, but the difference is that there were more spells, and abilities, and more overall jobs. and the charactors weren't limited to what jobs they could take. The map had random encounters in it, much better ones, with many more options of fighting to work up your job levels. and with mastering certain skills changing how your charactor played, all in better ways, made tactics, with it's much more involved, devolped, and mature story line, not to mention secret items that I'm sure people are still trying to figure out how to get legitly, and secret charactors that were far improvments over things like the judge from tactics (shall i tell you... Cloud was the final secret charactor)

But if you look at the picture above, the game could be a FFT from ps sequal, instead of a gba sequal. then agian, it might take all the great elements from tactics, and apply them to advance, and come up with something even better. only time will tell.

luckilly, i have both a DS and a PSP, so I'll get the best of both worlds.
