Newest letter from Naoki Yoshida outlines the plans for Final Fantasy XIV's next patch

Mar 26th 2012 7:43PM (Massively)
@JohnD212 Huh it costs 10$, total, not sure where you got your 14+3 nonsense, plus you dont need to spend more than 1 char as youget 2 retainers giving you a hefty 300 more inventory on top of your base 200, cant go wrong with 500 inventory slots, lets see that in any current game lol.

Crafting is being fixed, There is already a recipe book, you get recipes from quests...

Things are fixed, seems you're just ignoring it for some odd reason.

The Soapbox: TERA's rocky road to release

@unverified I am sorry but no they did not do a lot of what you did. Wow /sit amazing, the Korean version has it, the quests? Korean version has them, they added very few and adjusted some to fit their English ideas (that will be a waste of time like SWTOR's voice acting is becoming).

All character customization is identical to the Korean version, the levelling is not any different, they ampd up the EXP Gains and that is it, You level twice as fast as the Korean version.

Took them 1/half year to:
- Double EXP Gains
- Translate

Show me something thats new and interesting that other studios couldnt have done in a day, look at FFXIV, it failed and they've built an entire new game in the time it took Enmas/Frog to translate a existing game lols.

I also believe bad release dates and poor localization team play a huge role, a game being release a year/half longer than Korean and what has changed? The text is now English. Wooo

When other studios easily get out a multi language MMO, TERA has no excuse imo. =D Through this long long way and other high + free competitors, i think that has rocked its release.

@Plastic I have played Blade and Soul, I find it fantastic and the freedom of movement is great, though it is not true action it still has a very strong tabbing system.

@paterah Also you do not need to "carefully plan your attacks" you just learn to move right/left now and then and you are fine. You will soon find this out when you are high level and notice how the mobs at level 10 have the same characteristics as mobs level 50.

Getting a little fed up with the reviews and commentary that is incorrect or misleading. The game looks great, and is "kind of" unique. I do not think it is "truely" action combat as you get animation lock on just about everything... There are also an odd amount of combat limitations.

The Daily Grind: Should MMO companies reveal server loads?

Jan 28th 2012 10:31AM (Massively)
FFXIV had a number,

it went from nearly 3-4k per server to around 900 people within the first month lol caused a lot of issues. They turned it off, then later they added a "Search" system, and through this and setting specific filters people could get the total number of people online again (dont think devs realised...) and it still declined even though the game went free, and guess what the game stated it was charging the following month.

So it of course caused a HUGE massive bitch fest on the forums and now some servers have like 200 people online at a time LOL.

I think some studios shouldnt, eg this one SE's FFXIV.

But for example SWTOR does have numbers showing how many people in an area so if you REALLY wanted you could work out a good amount, but i think they should at least give a "rough" estimate to what the numbers mean, eg:

Low 2-3k
Medium 3-5k
High 5k+

etc.

@J45neoboy wait what? You're playing TOR (which i am, its epic), one of the most expensive mmos released, and has a solid monthly fee, but you're worried about Guildwars 2 which is FREE? no monthly sub...

@JVJunior quality doesnt mean much if it only attains a very small niche, so they create a broad game, that might not fit your quality spectrometer!
