@StClair I'm not ashamed to admit I'm an AVID fan-fiction writer. Several years ago I wrote a character (an Andorian male) who became the CO of the 1701-F. When I found out that Cryptic was brave enough to finally let the CO of the Enterprise be NON-human PLUS the fact he would be an Andorian - I couldn't help but be thrilled. It just felt "right" to me for purely selfish reasons.
@Utakata THANK YOU. This is EXACTLY what put such a horrible taste in my mouth. It's coming off as a transparent effort on the game's behalf to exclude those who identify gender differently - or not at all.
Somehow providing incentive to play with "real" members of the opposite sex is just so - wtf...
Yes people can make fake FB accts to roll a new toon to take advantage of the incentives will defeat their game company's intentions - but it's the basis of their marketing ploy I find wholly offensive - to *everyone*.
@wahahabuh I know - and it's also very, very wrong. It smacks of being anti-homosexual. What if I don't LIKE playing with boys? Only straights get the bonus?
See? It's BAD. It stinks. It's nasty and all it does it work to DIVIDE people.
@Space Cobra *grin* Being a child of the 70's let me assure you that when I use the word "funky" it's NOT meant as meaning "weird" but "weirdly cool." Personally I thought it was adorable but in a funky way. The shoes cracked me up. I dated someone like him once. We went to Parliament concerts... :) Had a ball.
@Tom in VA I understand, STO isn't for everyone. As for Neverwinter - I'm the columnist for STO. Neverwinter is still in development. While I have a very high interest in the use of the Foundry in Neverwinter, my focus was to meet solely with the STO team for Captain's Log.
