NCsoft explains NA and EU Collector's Edition price difference [Updated]

@Lenn

Neither does ours (US). Just like SOPA, everyone went nuts, and the Gov backed off, only to find another way to screw us. SOPA/PIPA issue isn't dead, and the gov will still get what they want ignoring everyone in the majority that's against it. Wait and see.

The Soapbox: The hidden perils of Guild Wars 2's microtransactions

I do respect your opinion, the way I read your post, it seemed like this one article had made up your mind. I was worried too until I read the Blog on Guild Wars 2's site, and I felt like they are keeping with their pledge there would be no "pay to win." The biggest issue I see, not everyone agrees on what defines, "pay to win." It's just my opinion, but convenience items and vanity items do not qualify as pay to win. That's all they are offering according to the Blog. So your post still puzzles me. That's all.

@Pasha Or a $59 game that gives you full experience and access to the game, in which you can buy vanity and convenience items in the shop to help support their release of more content in the future. At least that's how I see it.

@Jetflame3
Really? You are gong to "not play" because of this article? Did you read the blog on GuildWars2 by the Founder of ArenaNet before coming to that conclusion? Are you sure you hadn't already made up your mind on this before you read the article? You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but I think that's a rash decision, based on this article alone. If you read the blog, and then see how it works after the next beta and you are still not interested, then good for you, but I wouldn't let one article sway your decision. Even the author says he's going to try the game out and see what he finds.

Similarities are not specific examples of how Fraud is committed and how it can occur in GW2. I can go into the "economics" of why the the argument is flawed regarding the gold seller's, bots, etc., but until I see it for myself in the Beta Videos released after the next Beta, I will hold my opinions. I can say that Anet successfully stopped most spamming and bottling with different mechanics in GW1 and I trust them to do the same in GW2. The game has not released and is in closed beta so there is plenty of time for them to make changes if necessary, and the next beta will test Micro transactions. I think speculation is unnecessary and opinions are best reserved until we actually see how it works, then articles like this can stir the masses if there is a flaw in their "In Game Store." I think the fact they are willing to "Test" Micro-transactions in the Beta with the Media/Press shows they are very confident in their system and being very upfront/transparent with the "In Game Store." I just ask that articles about GW2's Micro-transactions that use words such as "Fraud" actually support their argument with details and specifics, then apply them to how it happens in a game with Micro-transactions. I don't think that is unreasonable request on my part.

The Daily Grind: Would you buy a system for one game?

Mar 22nd 2012 11:31AM (Massively)
I bought an Xbox primarily because of Halo. I will never buy a console again however, as I play almost all games on PC now, and will not go back for a console exclusive. I am upgrading my computer for GW2, which is the first time I've upgraded for a specific PC game.

Your arguments are pretty shaky at best. You talk about Fraud in another game, but you don't apply how that could happen in GW2. You should of given some specific examples based on what we know, which isn't much and why an article like this is premature.

The Daily Grind: Which non-existent MMO genre would you play?

I want a 3rd person modern combat game, that's like Guild Wars2 with Dynamic events, and using a limited amount of skills based on weapon sets/load outs. If you ever played the April Fool's Quests last year in Guild Wars, that's kind of what I'm thinking, but with vehicles, and limited air support.

I hope if they do it they do it right, and make it the first Triple A Sandbox, and leave out PVP completely.
