NCsoft explains NA and EU Collector's Edition price difference [Updated]

Mar 29th 2012 5:18PM (Massively)
This has been happening for years in the gaming industry, sony, microsoft console prices are a good example, it's always like if it costs $250 US they will charge £250 pounds as if the fking currency conversion ratio is 1:1, and just now you're noticing.....? We Europeans have always been getting the short end of the stick in these matters but the reversal is never true for products that are cheaper in europe they would never adopt the european price they would make a new US dollar price for it.

Guild Wars 2 beta signups pressing on for the millionth signup [Updated: Million-mark achieved]

It is quite an acomplishment imo, 1 million signups in 48 hours.

Although optimistically speaking if they have 100k invites to give it still means you only have a 10% chance to be in it.

@Pelti
have you heard of rift mobile app?
have you heard of wow armory?
have you heard of GW2 plans for apps interacting with the game world?
mobile apps that interact and lets you chat with ingame buddies are already a reality.

What you're discribing about sidekick system seems to be the opposite of what it really is, it's about enabling you to play with your friends even if you are at end game and they just started. Don't know how other games do it but I'm looking forward to the way GW2 is implementing it, it also stops people from griefing content by 1 shotting everything in a low level area by automatically lowering your effective level to the level of the area.

@Buhallin
I doubt that you will be soloing in an overflow server, simply because whenever there's a queue it's mainly about at least 100 players or more,
you get to play with others that are waiting to access their main servers, you get to keep your progress and you can still communicate with your friends.

They might not have invented the system but who says you have to be the inventor to be revolutionary, take wow for example, they didn't invent many of the highly popular features they have, yet, it is considered the most popular mmorpg ever, why? simple, it's how they put them together and how they work that made them rise to the top.

Arenanet may not have invented many of these systems they have implemented but they do have the courage, drive, expertise and commitment to dare and make a game other than cloning wow a la rift style.

That Tera XP boost sounds more like a lazy dev's idea....not clever at all sorry !

Doesn't really try to address the issue, we don't want to be stuck for hours in a queue and just opening up more servers doens't solve the issue either, a lesson SWTOR is now learning.

Sitting in a queue for an hour even if you give me an XP boost isn't acceptable to me. and let's face it, it's frogster, later they will have some kind of XP boost item in a cash shop making this totally useless.

GW2 idea on the other hand, eliminates queue's all together how brilliant is that...
I'm sure a lot of dev's are facepalming themselves right about now thinking, jeez how come we didn't think of this? answer is easy.
you're not arena.net

Blizzard tells Diablo III fans to lower their expectations

I see,
hmm, thing is 2.5d games came to existence because of technology limitations of the era which were overcome and 3d was born, that's when 2.5d went the way of the horse carriage. Or are you saying you'd rather drive a horse carriage around instead of a sports car ?

same thing 2.5d is the horse carriage, which was overcome by 3d the sports car.

/tin foil hat on.

same train of thought here.
with games like swtor, tera, blade and soul and gw2, it seems to me that they wanna turn down the hype so as not to crash and burn horribly when the fans dissapointment starts to flood the interent, than they can say we told you not to get your hopes up to much. many are tied to wow for a year because of this game they better deliver or i see a bunch of people rage quitting this time in the millions for good.
