Least Rift had this in at launch. But still glad their bringing it in SWTOR.

@(Unverified) I think I am going to believe a survey done on MMO gamers over some random internet guy. Bioware might have said that, and I agree at launch many people play a game alot. They normaly don't once its been out a few months. That seems to be the case with almost all MMOs.

And I was not talking about SWTOR specificaly.

@wilus84 Swtors low level areas are also largly empty on alot of servers. I am sure after GW2, SW etc come out it will be much the same. Unless your silly enough to think those games will have comparable growth to WOW in its first few years of release and thus be busy in all level ranges even long after release and going against all industry trends of busy launch then a steady decline of users... If you do think that then you might also think pigs fly...

@(Unverified) Yep just like WOWs burning legion as a rip of of books like Raymod E fiest where there was a universe conquring deamon horde (hell the dragons in RIFT as a bit of a rip-off of Fiest also as there was world conquring dragons/riders in his books to). I'm sure fans of WAR and many other IPs from prewarcraft can point out many other simularities in both game's law to other IPs.

@Graill440 You do know that people can be subed to a game and only play a few hours a week/month so would likly not even be noticed by trolls trying to prove the game is dead/dieing. Hell that WOW survey that massively reported on a year or so ago (not going to bother looking for it) suggested that a fair number of people remain subbed to a game even of they are not intending to play it for that month. Again people like that wont appear on the surver load screen all the time. ANd may not even play during peak times.

@real65rcncom And yet RIFT cost, what a quater of what SWTOR cost to make, was not in development as long and game from an intapendent company. On top of that you think SWTOR would have learnt from TRIONS mistake...

The Daily Grind: Which MMO doesn't get the respect it deserves?

Apr 3rd 2012 11:47AM (Massively)
For me RIFT and Vanguard would probably be the underated games. Vanguard for all the reasons others have stated and RIFT for how far it has come since launch. It has a decent population, and has grown a bit recently but I think I deserves more for the small inovations it has brought to MMO's. I have never felt a company as justified to charge me $15 a month (less cause I have multi-month sub) as TRION.

WOW/SWTOR etc have no excuse in this day and age if they can't keep up content development like TRION can in my opinion. Both Bioware and Blizzard are bigger then TRION so you would expect them to atleast have a similar work output if not more.

@JohnD212 I would argue that they have given you more love then raiders. The last 20 man raid was Hammerknell and between now and then all that was released for raiders was a 10 man raid.

Non raiders has ember isle quest chains, another chronicle, more zone events, Master mode dungeons another massive 5 man dungeon, geting raid tokens by completing 5 man dungeons and probably other stuff I can't think of at the moment. Soon they will also be getting two (or is it three?) new profesions.

So in some ways it could be argued that they pander more to non-raiders then raiders. So unless you want high-end raid gear even thou you don't want to raid then there is plenty to do as a non-raider, the gear (if that is peoples prime motivator to play) just wont be quite as good, and really why should it be?

The Daily Grind: Is maintenance mode better than nothing at all?

@real65rcncom And sadly I think EA would rather shut it down then keep a server open for people like that. But who knows they might grow a heart and keep a server open for them.

"There is no reason at all to play a game in this condition."

What happens if you like the game or the people playing it and you don't mind it being it not having new content developed for it? I feel that is a pretty compeling reason to keep playing. Sure ideally people should go out and volunteer for charaty or something but that has nothing to do (or very little) with people wanting to play a game like Vangaurd that was not being actively developed.

Just because a game is not reciecving new content does not mean it is not fun to play.
