Please let this not be an April fool's joke! :) Seriously though, one-shots was one of my favorite little things here on Massively.

TERA cracks open Akasha's Hideout to the viewing public

Thanks for the video link. Those encounters looks interesting - even more so when you view some of the player recorded footage on YouTube featuring "live" game-play from the player's perspective. I actually find those to be more enticing - but it's a nice overview of what's to come.

I'd love to give Bluehole my money for this game, but I'll probably hold out until I know for sure that Frogster's not going to IP block the Southern African regions. So far, it only seems to be Russia & the CIS regions, but that may change. Hopefully we'll know for sure by release in May. :)

The Daily Grind: Do children have a place in MMOs?

Feb 8th 2012 1:48PM (Massively)
@belgeode Wow, I was going to quote you and instead, here you are. :) I loved that blog post and it really summed it up so well.

From my own point of view - I've always loved the World of Warcraft's Children's Week event. It was really one of the more fun events and actually very funny too. "What does zug zug mean?"

The presence of children just makes to world more believable and immersive, but I also believe it has the potential of being way more than just an "immersion-mechanic". Although not an MMO, Skyrim did proove that children in a central part of a quest's story, can be incredibly interesting and sometimes quite haunting too i.e. [spoiler] the orphaned boy who attempted to summon the Dark Brotherhood.

Fans share their anticipation for Guild Wars 2

Feb 8th 2012 2:22AM (Massively)
I've watched quite a lot of fan videos over the last year. Some of them are truly amazing. It was a great move by ArenaNet to for e.g. do the fan video contest last year and prizes we're so worth it! I hope the enthusiasm coming from Guild Wars 2's fan base will continue post launch.

Also, welcome Elisabeth! Looking forward to seeing your work and hopefully, learn more about yourself as a Guild Wars player and fan... perhaps you could give us a little introductory article. :)

Subscriber numbers lead to a new hope for Electronic Arts stock

@rgolch There's a lot of truth in what you said there. Even though I have my own reservations about SW:ToR, I just cannot deny the bad message that would have been sent out to the industry as a whole, had SW:ToR flopped.

Now, it's still early days and they have a long road ahead of them with lots to learn about how to create a pleasant and mutual beneficial relationship with their community. Perhaps I criticize them too harshly sometimes ... but I always chant in my head: 205 million dollar MMO ... 205 million dollar MMO ... 205 million dollar MMO ...

For two-hundred-and-five-million-dollars ... I expect an MMO no to be good or even great, bur rather astounding, beyond any measure we're used to and delivering a player experience beyond our wildest expectations. I would expect no less.

But, I'm glad for the competition and if SW:ToR manages to grow even more after the initial release sales-spike, it would certainly give other developers (and investors) the courage to explore the market even more ... and that ultimately spills over to us, the players, giving us a great choice of MMO's to entertain us.

So I say, watch out Hollywood .. watch out Bollywood ... here comes the mighty MMO, ready to stand it's ground as a powerful and formidable player in the entertainment world.

Flameseeker Chronicles: What lies ahead

Wow, this is really a sad day ... but I'm incredibly happy for you. Massively will indeed loose one their greatest writers and CM's, but on the up side, ArenaNet will be gaining a valuable asset and they are lucky to have you!

Okay, okay ... that last one was a complete shot in the dark. lol Honestly, wherever your next venture lies, they'd be receiving an amazing human being, so I wish you only the best of luck.

Hopefully, we'll still hear from you on the various blogs and forums out there. If my wild suspicious are correct ... well, then we live in exciting times indeed! Fare well Rubi ... your presence will be greatly missed here. :)
