PAX 2011: Hands-on with Firefall

Aug 31st 2011 1:15PM (Massively)
Nice write up, thanks. I've been following this game for awhile now and I'm super excited for it. I couldn't make it to PAX Prime but I played the PvP at PAX East, and it was a blast. I think this game will definitely have a huge competitive e-sports presence.

Just an FYI, the devs have said that the dynamic events DO in fact scale based on participation :)

Haha, I saw pictures of the Firefall bathroom ads, those were hilarious. Looks like a pretty awesome game too, definitely one to keep an eye on.

I'm excited for GW2 as well. Played and enjoyed the first one and am liking the sound of some of the innovations they're making.

Can't wait to play BOTH of those games :D

I've been excited for this game for awhile, but all of the hype coming out of PAX has been increasing that a ton. I've heard complaints about OSC or about the revealing nature of some of the Female battleframes, but not once have I heard anyone say anything bad about the actual game.

@Nenene A direct quote from Red 5's CEO that I think is relevant: "I hope that the author of the original article on gay gamer can separate Red 5's creative work, which is the entirety of Firefall, from the contributions of one author (of two authors...his daughter is involved) to a manga about the game and some story concepts we have incorporated into Firefall."

Seriously, it's a free game, you don't have to support one person to enjoy the works of many.

The Daily Grind: What was your favorite PAX reveal?

Aug 29th 2011 11:02AM (Massively)
Yeah, definitely Firefall for me too. I admit to some bias because I was waiting for PAX pretty much entirely because I knew Red 5 were going to be doing some huge stuff there, but they did not disappoint me. They went all out on the marketing and built up a huge amount of hype that, from every single account I've heard, the game lived up to gloriously. I really can't wait to get my hands on this game

Gah I wish I could go to PAX, there's going to be so much awesome stuff there! I have to say though, the one I'm looking forward to most is Firefall. With people like the team lead of WoW, the lead designer of Tribes, and my favorite author of all time (Orson Scott Card) working on it, and it's free to play, I just absolutely can't wait to get my hands on it (again that is, I played it at PAX East and it was awesome).
