ArenaNet expands on microtransactions in Guild Wars 2

@drunkingamebar its all just one form of gem, I'm guessing they would have more of a gem/gold exchange rate in place.

@Greymantle also, since you can buy everything in the cash shop without money by making the gold it just makes it a case of how impatient/lazy are you? Do you want that skin or character slot right now, or are you willing to wait till you get the gold for it?

@Greymantle gear doesnt matter very much in Gw2 so you can buy all the best non-karma gear, but it wont make you very good.

if anything, this would discourage me from spending money on stuff in the cash shop since I know that i can get everything in there with hard work and keep money in my pocket, lol

@Acidbaron other than the transmute stones which are also available for in game currency, the shop has been said to be pretty much the same between this and the first game. I don't really see it as all that worrisome.

@Deliverator You realize we already knew that the cash shop was in the game, right? As it was in the first one, and they'll sell pretty much the same things, i.e. character slots, costumes and the like. It's nothing to get worked up over.

I like it, I can get everything in the MT without spending a dime as long as I make the gold myself? Yes please.

Star Wars: The Old Republic answers questions on 1.2 and priorities

@Dril Whoa, I never claimed that devs pander to raiders. I think that they take the easy way out and dont flesh out their games in general in addition to raids, but I never said that they only make content for raiders. if they did, the game world wouldn't exist; my original sarcastic comment would be fact, not snark. Secondly, I don't indulge in the downvote/upvote ego stroking scene, I say what I say and that's it. My problem is that they don't offer enough rewards in modern games to make anything other than raiding attractive for people who are interested in progressing their characters, and then they trivialize the gear that those raiders work for by introducing gear that obliterates the previous tier. I raid, as I've said before, and I get gear because my group is good at what we do, but I don't prioritize the gear, I just like raiding with my friends. Stop putting words in my mouth and address what I actually say. I don't hate raiders, I dont think raiding ruins games, I do have issue with people who say that gear is the end all of everything and that's the group I was speaking of. They, and all of us, need to be given more inventive ways to spend our time at max level other than "go chase this gear level."

@Space Cobra Hey, you and me? Right here right now? We're seeing eye-to-eye on this. *internet high five for reasoned debate instead of mindless namecalling and insults*

The Daily Grind: Should new expansions include old expansions?

i think charging for expansions on top of subs is unsavory to begin with, but if they are going to do so then yes by all means roll the content into one reasonable price. The only exception I could stomach would be GW2's theoretical model, where since they dont charge a sub, and aren't *supposedly* going to force you to use the cash shop, and you aren't going to "out level" content, then they could get away with charging for each individual expac. i still wouldn't think it'd be a great idea down the line, but I'm cheap, lol.
