PAX 2011: Hands-on with Firefall

Aug 31st 2011 7:53PM (Massively)
An active dodge could slow down the gameplay a tad to much but you could be right there.

On to the part of the scaling: The dynamic events have a minimum amount of enemies that will show up, even when only one person is around. This is to make sure that the town can actually get overrun. It scales with the amount of people there, but there is also a cap on that to make sure to reward people for taking the time to show up and do these dynamic missions. (you got teleported to the zone this time, but most likely this will not be the case in the final game).

Very good read still, loved it very much :), keep up the good work! Hope to see some of you in beta, should be launching soon!

I saw some of the red5 bathroom wallpapers end up on people as costumes in the end, was pretty funny to see :D.

Hope some of you didn't just only check out the advertisement from red5 but the actual game. I had the joy of playing it at GamesCom and had an absolute blast, seeing that pax had added pve and another battleframe. I'm kind of jealous ^^.

Firefall preview: Something for everyone

@ScottishViking These kinds of comments like yours are pointless and just blatantly stupid.

Overlooking OSC is going to be hard? What do you think, half the missions will be kill and hunt down some gays? -_-
Seriously, I have several gay friends who'll be playing this game just as much as I will. If you don't agree with OSC, write him a post card instead of not trying out a free to play game. He helped with the lore. Nowhere in the lore is gay marriage covered, mmmmkay? -_-

Back on topic: very good write-up, sad to see it semi go to waste on half of these comments...

Easily FIrefall, even got some nice coverage for the internet folks who didn't attend.

+ They had most comfortable carpet, can't argue with that!

Be sure to check out Firefall! They set up daily missions for people attending to win several nice prices including hats, tshirts, headsets, ipad, mini statues of the characters, ...

They're showing off the open world pve for the first time and at the same time show off the new pvp map and game mode. While also showing the 4th battleframe!

Oh yeah, it's free to play and beta should be coming right after pax! :D

Firefall announces beta, details launch

@cerebrix I just had to make a comment on this.

You clearly have not done ANY research about the game or you would immediately see you're wrong in every way possible. For starters: 200$ for a F2P game where the key is bound to account and instantly trace-able back to the original source, really?

Yes, min/maxing in a game that has very little vertical progression but way more horizontal progression. If my aim is better then yours, you'll die, no matter the level, it's that simple.

I guess if you are this ignorant you won't be missed over at the game, but please don't give the wrong impression to everybody else here who might be interested.

Nice try to get the spotlight though...

To everybody who thinks this is a head start: it's an fps first and foremost, NOT AN MMO. Even stated by the CEO of red5studios, there will be plenty of full blown character whipes, so no the guys that get in first have no advantage. They can go bughunt and hype the game, that's about it.
