The guild bank space should be gated based on how many members are in each guild. For example

EVE Evolved: Setting the record straight

At the 7:00 - 7:40 Mittens says: "The theme of this year's Goonswarm Alliance presentation is going to be Goonswarm hates you - and basically just talk about each different little aspect of demographic of eve of how much we hate them and want them all to die and kill themselves. Like highsec miners, we want them to kill themselves; people who role-play, we want them to kill themselves; people with Titans, we want them to kill themselves. There's just a whole host of people I hope to really offend by telling them to commit suicide while on stage in front of thousands of nerds."

Time for that 30-day ban to become a permanent one.

EVE Evolved: Setting the record straight

Hi Massively, grow some balls.

I've read many of the comments from Goons regarding their determination to 'go after' all those who made comments against Alex (The Mittani) and found nothing in Brendan's original column that said anything other than the truth of what unfolded.

Never in my many years of gaming have I seen a group (Goonswarm) act more like petulant two year olds that have had their pacifier removed from them than the supposed hard core griefers they claim to be.

I can't blame Brendan to a degree for cowtowing to the Goons when they don't just leave their antics in game and are quite happy to attempt retribution outside of it as well.

Ngmoco exec: Free-to-play is not exploitative

Oh look a F2P company defending the very ethos behind the model, finding ways to gate people into paying. Make leveling mind bogglingly slow so they buy XP boosters. Sell stat boosters giving advantages in leveling, PvP, crafting, etc. Hit a pay wall where areas are locked out. The list goes on and on and on.

If the developers want money they will be facing me with EFT machine in hand and I will gladly pay $15 a month, but don't send me down the rapids in a canoe and tell me later that I need to buy a paddle when you kept telling me the ride was for free.

F2P is a bait and switch tactic, pure and simple.

Pull the other leg Mr Cousins, it plays jingle bells.

EVE Online's The Mittani issues formal apology for crossing the line [UPDATED]

When you concider that Alec had organized the information that was displayed on the screen regarding the targetted player at Fanfest before the event, therefore before any type of alcohol consumption was involved means his intention was to do what he did all along. The he got drunk and said the wrong thing arguement doesn't hold any water based on his actions before the event.

He did some good with giving CCP a much needed boot in the backside after Incarna, but this was just a really stupid thing to do because he has now backed CCP into a corner where they will have to act.

The Daily Grind: What would make you cancel a pre-order?

For me, GW2 is no longer of interest as I don't like the methodology behind the cash shop model. The bait and switch tactics are part and partial to the model because obviously they need to make money so therefore have to develop ways within the game to make cash shop items appear attractive enough to make people want to purchase them.

I see the justification for having things like XP boosters, etc in cash shops being fine so people with less time can keep pace as an excuse for having them (oh developer marketing departments you have been busy). The thing is that if two players play for the same amount of time over a month except one spends RL money on XP boosters, then they definately are gaining an advantage. This is especially true when there is an form of PvP involved.

Also there is one thing that has occured in all the other cash shop games I have followed and that is item creep, they may start with just vanity or fluff items but before long there are boosters and more once the developer has hooked enough players who have become invested in their game. LOTRO is a prime example of this.

I don't begrudge developers making money as they are businesses and aren't charities, but cash shop games aren't something I have any interest in.

DUST 514 will be F2P and free to download

No the idiot would be the person who didn't look at my post as to what defines P2W where advantages are incurred through cash shop purchases. If there was absolutely no advantage given, then no-one would purchase anything from a games cash shop, that is my point.

By the way your point of purchasing a character in EVE is irrelevant because if I purchased a 6 year old character in EVE for example, then it sure as hell will not take me 6 years to work out how to use it effectively.

There's your two cents right back at yah :)

@Zyrusticae
That's right I would have absolutely no advantage if I dropped $100 for the best gear as soon as the game is released whilst the other guy spends the next few months gearing up for free. No, no, definately no advantage at all.

I am so sick of reading this 'it's not P2W if you can get it in game' BS, if it incurred no advantage then no one would buy the shit!!!

And I always find amusing when I see developers sprouting the 'but you can get it in game' BS, yeah with a 0.00001% chance usually or that will be 100+ hours of grinding thank you very much.

Sorry mate, buy you need to go back and re-evaluate what P2W really means. As soon as there are cash shop items that affect gameplay, then that's an advantage.

New Star Wars: The Old Republic video celebrates a successful launch

All I know is that I'm having fun in the game, taking it nice and easy and enjoying the ride. If it's not fun for others then I hope they find a game that is.

And as long as Bioware doesn't listen to the whiny bitches that ruined WoW then I'll be playing SWTOR for a long time.

EVE Evolved: Could EVE Online go free-to-play?

@Deliverator
Well said and so so true on so many points. I still find it amazing that people still don't understand the motivation behind the F2P model.

Within a few years the F2P market will become oversaturated and investors simply won't fund new titles as they will be deemed to be to risky of an investment. Ray Muzyka is right when he said that AAA titles will only be produced via the subscription model otherwise that large of an investment will simply not be made for a F2P game.

I wonder which model the people here would invest a substantial amount of their money in, a F2P title or a subscription one with an initial 'box' sale. Interesting to think like those on the other side of the fence isn't it.
