I feel that the starting area was fine as the focus should be on learning Tera's combat format, crafting options, etc. basically learning the ropes. Also how is it right to assume that every player is an MMO veteran? If they make the starter slope too steep it will turn off many potential customers.
I like Tera as it offers a nice alternative vs the other MMO formats. Now is it worth a full monthly subscription? That question I am still struggling with : )
Yup, I remember it as Mob - Mobile Object - covered just about anything that was not a player character in an MMO. Also it usually referred to attackable targets. Example: "Ok when we hit the boss, all of his follow up mobs will come rushing in, we need to aoe them down fast or they will get buffed and we will wipe. " : )
I like most names and labels for most things in an MMO's except toon. I assume it’s from cartoon and I never really like it. I felt it cheapened the MMO experience and treated player characters as disposable.
Been trying it out on the PTS and I found its hard to go back to the current retail client hehe.
One thing that is lacking is the keyboard remapping still has to be done for each character - bleh. I wish when a custom configuration is saved it also saves the key maps. The individual save and loads per character is nice as well as I like some layouts are better for certain classes.
For fun: Cisco phone has a message waiting for you and product placed collectors edition - too obvious : ) Needs to sit in the background a bit more. Should build a collectors edition wall or something.
Lost all interest in D3 - watched several live feeds from people in the beta to see what it has to offer. I am very glad to see Torchlight 2 is underway as I can't wait to play it!
TL2 being full featured gives me all the options I need for a great dungeon run be it solo, LAN, or internet. Plus I understand it will support mods?
Well, this looks much better than expected. Also this was a pretty darn good presentation.
Hopefully plenty of us can make it into the beta and drop over here to give feedback on what it is really like.
The only complaint I could see was that it lacks physics like the guy getting hit by the tank round, people getting riddled by weapon fire etc. Of course this is alpha so maybe it will be added later?
This looks to be a good start so keeping my fingers crossed : )
I played an Infiltrator in Planetside. It was fun flying around averting radar in my mosquito then quietly dropping down, slip in stealthed, hack the door security, slip past the turrets and then hack the final terminal over our side. : )
In later patches the class became so over nerfed that stealth was easily defeated with a talent spec - they had heavy armor and weapons and then would sweep a room - quickly locate you and it was over.
Just like Daoc, trying to balance three sides did not work very well. I wonder how well it will work in this version?

Joystiq's new commenting system is live
Apr 5th 2012 11:26AM (Joystiq)Each forum is like a conversation and has specific information to it and should stay in those forums.
It just feels like a corporate sellout all to artificially pump up stats - a variation of cross selling.
Forum members may very well abstain from posting and seek other areas less marketing focused.
Guild Wars 2's character creator brings celebrities to Tyria
Apr 4th 2012 3:49PM (Massively)Tezcatli is right, about Megan. I think the best way to address this issue is we need to request a "Trashy" slider for character creation.

SimCity will not support mods at launch
Mar 28th 2012 11:13AM (Joystiq)So true. Look what happened to Sims3. Sims2 sold well and it supported mods.
Unless something bizarre happens EA will not allow those dirty community members to interfere with the dlc money leech machine.
Same tactic goes for blocking other games to use private servers and Lan gaming.
As long as we keep FEEDING them money they will continue to eliminate consumer choice and rights at every opportunity.
