[Updated] Celebrate the launch of Veil of Alaris by winning a signed copy of the EverQuest art book

My EverQuest story starts many years ago, right around the year 2001. Up until this point in time I had never even heard of an MMO, nor had any idea what EverQuest even was. One day while watching G4TV, one of my favorite channels, i stumbled upon a show called portal. This show took the viewers on adventures into these mysterious video game worlds known as MMO's. After becoming obsessed with the show I decided it was time to dig deeper so I jumped on my computer, double clicked that little AOL icon and listened to the sweet sounds of the internet streaming it's way into my computer.

After a few days of research I decided to give this EverQuest game a try, what I didn't realize is that I was about to make a choice that would shape my entire future up until this day. So I buy the game, pop the disk in and enter in Mom's credit card info, and before you know it I was in. After looking over my different choices I decided to go with a Dark Elf Shadow Knight. After tweaking my hair and all that fun stuff I clicked for the first time ever, enter world. 3 minutes later and a lot of loading I was dropped into one of the most confusing worlds that I have ever seen. I wandered and explored, fought and died. I was hopeless and lost, but I must say, being lost was never so much fun.

From that point forward I learned a lot of things about the MMO world and all of the things that come with it. They have forever since changed my life for the better. I introduced them to some of my friends who prior to gaming were doing nothing more than hanging out on the corner an getting into trouble. It's amazing to think that one show, lead me to one game, which lead me to one of the most amazing, incredible, and memorable experiences of my life to this date.

For this first memory and all of those to come, I thank you EverQuest.

Sincerely,
The MMO Junkie

Anyone know if they have any plans to mention EverQuest Next?

The Daily Grind: Has an MMO made you sentimental?

EQOA.That's my first true love. I honestly still youtube videos of it and remenece on the good old days on Ferran's Hope, rolling with Dark Knights of Teir'Dal. Good Time. WoW, VG, and EQ2 also hold very strong memories for me as well.

The Daily Grind: Does MMO magic need a revolution?

May 23rd 2011 8:32AM (Massively)
I think magic needs a lot of work. Caster's used to get all sorts of cool spells that didn't do much in combat, but just helped to make the caster feel more like a magician...we don't see that much anymore. It's now 50 different variations of bolt, blast, or ball.

I'd like to see casters with some crazy spells that have huge prep and cast times, but if pulled of do some crazy things. I'd also like to see spells that can back fire etc. Just anything to make casters feel like these dark magicians again instead of fireball machines.

The Daily Grind: What's your favorite combat ability in any game?

I still think Death Grip is hilarious in PvP situations. It has to be up there with some of my favorite abilities. I also liked a lot of Aion's Ranger abilities because of the fact that they actually pushed or threw the enemy back, great for pvp.
