Captain's Log: Interview with Cryptic's Al Rivera, part two

One thing to note is that the many (not all) of the new DOFF assignments can also be accessed from the Department Heads tab of the general DOFF mission screen without going to the interior of the ship.

Overall, I like the direction they game is going in.

Heatwave Interactive hasn't been able to secure more funding to this point. I sincerely doubt there are any companies out there willing to invest millions of dollars in a game that has failed so badly up to now.

No one plays this game, and very few have ever played it. The IP is slightly different, but not a major draw. As far as the rest of the game is concerned, it's a poorly done, extremely content lite themepark MMO in a literal ocean of themepark MMOs that do it a hell of a lot better than G&H does.

Given the enormous amount of high-quality competition, the "meh" IP, the haphazard construction of the game and world, the incredible shortness of content, and the significant overall buginess, why would anyone play this game.

More to the point, why would anyone invest in it?

The Mittani gets hit with ban and resigns in wake of EVE Online controversy

I agree completely, CCP's decision is ridiculously light. It does not fit the offense in any way.

The lightness of the punishment just goes to prove that CCP not only condones such reprehensible behavior, they encourage it. They are certainly not serious about curtailing it.

No question, the lack of morality exhibited by CCP is nothing short of shocking.

I think the ball is actually in CCP's court.

Their inaction condones his behavior both in and out of game.

Excellent point. This sociopathic act was premeditated, no doubt prior to the intoxication.

The apology rings absolutely hollow. In private, he'll be laughing about it, and at the people who believed it.

@Kaoy

Absolute hogwash.

His drunken state just lowered his guard, and opened up a little window into his soul for everyone to look through. What they saw inside was an ugly, malformed human being. There's something missing in his character that most other people have.

This incident is the same type of behavior he routinely exhibits in-game with the benefit of the anonymity of the internet. Just, this time, that anonymity was gone, and everyone got to see the real sociopath in full view.

I hate to say it, but these types of games attract a higher ratio of immature, sociopathic human beings than the average themepark. This internet tough guy just outed himself in a very public way.

This is the face of EvE.

A look at Guild Wars 2's world vs. world PvP

Sad. We no longer develop characters in virtual worlds.

We magically have our characters leveled up to 80 (as opposed the level we've earned), to put everyone on an even keel for competitive reasons. It's e-sport garbage.

More meaningless PvP (a buff makes it fraught with meaning? I think not). More instanced PvP. Is that really what the MMO space needed?

Indeed, the player-crewed ships, while a nice fantasy, would have probably been absolutely terrible in practice.

The Daily Grind: What game have you fallen back in love with most often?

I with you on that one. I've been subscribed and playing since launch. I've reduced my time in-game periodically when playing other games, but I always end up back home.

In a space filled with themeparks that all play roughly the same, MO is one of the few that provides an actual virtual world experience. It's still not perfect, but has gotten a ton better since launch, and is still headed in the right direction as a fantasy sandbox game.
