You are correct in pointing out that the currency being purchased thru the Plex exchange was earned legitimately in-game with expended effort. That is certainly better than a traditional cash shop where the coin and items are added to the environment out of thin air and impact the economy in a negative way. However it doesn't change the fact that allowing players to purchase unlimited isk is RMT and thus pay to win.
Bullshit. EvE Online has been a pay to win MMO ever since CCP instituted the in-game exchange of purchased time cards for isk aka coin. It is intellectually dishonest for anyone to suggest that is not a form of unlimited RMT which obviously benefits those players with deep pockets.
@CountBrass When you design a MMO to cater to simplicity and non accountability for poor performance then you will attract people who are simple and feel they can misbehave.
I find it disingenuous for the author of this piece to suggest Vanguard players have been pining for a pay to win RMT revenue model. If anything is true about Vanguard players, it is that they do not wish for this. It is a slap in the face for those who were seeking a traditional earn your way sandbox MMO and were attracted to Vanguard for that reason originally.
Just say no to RMT and games that support it. I just don't get the mentality of choosing to play a MMO and then buying "time convenience saving items "? That's like saying I enjoy reading books but I choose to read cliff notes.
I agree that voice chat is a horrible addition to MMO gaming. It completely ruins immersion. The only way it would be acceptable is if it were offered through the client and voices were masked with a racial character filter. Also server wide chat in any form should not be allowed in genres where it doesn't make sense such as a fantasy world. In a Sci-Fi setting it would be feasible.
