I love it when people like you spread misinformation. Of course you have 120 fps in your ship, or 70 fps while questing, especially if you don't have everything turned to max, or shadows turned off, or stuff like that. Tell you what, turn EVERYTHING to max, play @ 1080p or 1920x1200, and go to Ilum at 12pm GMT (if in Europe, dunno for USA) on Tuesday, after you get the weekly Ilum quest. Find the group if opposite faction and start fighting. Tell me your fps.
My specs: i7 980x @ 4GHz, 12GB DDR3 ram, Nvidia GTX 590, R3 Extreme mobo. Might be a little outdated, but most would call it a high end PC.
@Braiks How did it fare well though? Playing with 5-10 fps in Ilum when there are *only* 40ish imps camping the base, or 1-5 just after the weekly reset, when everyone is doing their weekly, on a top end PC isn't really "well" imho.
Or did it fare well because SWTOR has 2mil subs (supposedly, im curious to see updated numbers)? If so, i can tell you Justin Bieber has sold shitloads of records and made tons of money off of it; his music is still shit tough.
But what do i know, obviously your previous experience in the gaming industry, alongside your very well thought out and formulated arguements are more than enough to convince me otherwise. Also, gaming companies never EVER do bad things, purely in the interest of getting more money, so obviously i'd have no reason to believe otherwise.
While we're on the chapter of "good" changes, why don't they just get rid of gear. Customizing your char isn't really fun, so let's not have gear. Also, the combat gets repetitive, so we might as well just scrap combat as well, we'll just use diplomacy and talk the bosses into surrendering. As a matter of fact why even have multiple classes at this point, let's just have one class, since more classes might get a bit more difficult and therefore less fun. Oh and maps, why have big randomized maps? Let's just all sit in the main hub like merry little men and talk about how our day was and how our bosses are riding us like slaves. That would surely bit a more fun game, wouldn't it?
The way they're cutting features in D3, I won't be surprised at all if sometime in the next month Blizz is gonna say "Heh, it was all an intricate ruse guys. There is no Diablo 3, we were just pulling your leg. Go back to WoW now, and thanks for those annual passes."
I wish i could do the same. Since quitting WoW (1+ years ago), i tried almost 10 other MMOs. I simply can't replicate the fun i had in WoW, no matter how hard i try. Unfortunately, i can't have fun in WoW anymore either. I fear WoW has set my expectations for MMOs so high, that i'll probably have to quit MMOs altogether. Here's to hoping Guild Wars 2 might change that!
