Massively Speaking Episode 193: Happytime face smiles

Apr 4th 2012 3:49AM (Massively)
Sacramento!? No wonder I agree with Bree so much... she probably lives down the street from me!
Those leaves are such a pain. The city never cleans them up either and they #occupy parking spots. >:(

Xsyon celebrates its first year of Prelude

Mar 15th 2012 2:50PM (Massively)
Hmm, seems kind of weird to me that they'd celebrate a whole year of Prelude, considering this was supposed to be a feature-lite launch state version of the game, with many more features coming soon. I'm surprised they're celebrating their loyal users paying over $180 in sub fees, not to mention the game purchase, even though the game has barely changed or improved during this 12 month window. Then again, I guess u understand they they'd celebrate. Notorious Games are probably pretty pleased with their, what, 5-person selves. They've found a way to just generate money based on little more than a few doctored screenshots and empty promises. Good on them for that, I wish I was that diabolical.

anyway, nice write up MJ, but I still wish I got a refund for this horribly managed cock-up.

Massively Speaking Episode 192: When it's ready

Mar 14th 2012 9:20PM (Massively)
Maaaaan, based on that title I thought you guys were going to talk about Guild Wars.

The awesome rants were a great substitute though. I like that our hosts aren't afraid to take a stand or a side in gaming issues. There has been a few times where I felt Justin or Bree haven't quite seen the whole story (Such as understanding where a developer might be coming from) but for the most part any rage is pretty justified.

The Daily Grind: What MMO have you recently deleted from your hard drive?

Mar 3rd 2012 1:53PM (Massively)
TOR. I still have 45 days left but my friends only bought 1 month subs D:

And that new one on steam, Pandora Saga. That baby came and went from my harddrive within 20 mins -_-

Massively Speaking Episode 188: Podcasting on two hours of sleep

Feb 28th 2012 8:42PM (Massively)
Bri, I liked you before, but your EVE rant has officially won me over to a card carrying member of your fan club.
When you brought up how you like economics a few posts ago I wanted to email in and say "Surely you love EVE then, eh?" but you highlighted every single issue I also have with the game.
I absolutely despise the EVE community, and they've proven themselves to be giant dicks in just about every instance possible. This is a game where hunting down and destroying completely defenseless crafters is a supported and celebrated activity.
And it is indeed CCP's fault and they are proud of it. I always find it funny that they promote their game to basically be a shithole where you can kill anyone you want, and at the same time release videos that are supposed to attract more players by saying they're making the intro more forgiving and present the game as an awesome sandbox, while ignoring the angry sons-of-football-coach kids who come over and bust up your sand castle on an hourly basis.

Anyway, I think you've solidified my resolve to never ever give CCP any more money no matter how idealistic my hope is for EVE, if nothing else for a ideological basis of not wanting to support this company any longer.

PS: I am currently subbed since they gave me a month for 7$ but I haven't even bothered to log in to update my skills for the last 10 days, so after about 4 announcements, I think I am officially over any interest in this game.
PPS: Great show!

The Guild Counsel: Stop yelling!

Feb 23rd 2012 9:09PM (Massively)
I cannot fathom why any one wouldn't instantly gquit if they were under that kind of verbal abuse. in fact, I have a hard time understanding why people deal with a lot of the stupid shit I hear about involving guilds.

The Daily Grind: Do you take time off work to play games?

Feb 23rd 2012 8:59PM (Massively)
I work about 30 hours from home at a job that can, at times, have a lot of downtime so finding time to play games is never an issue. I actually wish I went to work sometimes so I could appreciate my games more... but then a new release comes out and I love it.

The Daily Grind: What MMO do you regret leaving?

Feb 18th 2012 6:11PM (Massively)
@Cyroselle

I just recently got back into mine after not remember my password or my character names. Make sure you contact them during the day? They were very speedy in their responses, and even helped me with about 4 separate issues. You just have to make sure you put your responses between the stupid dotted lines in their replies.

The Daily Grind: What MMO do you regret leaving?

Everytime I read a little too much about EVE I regret leaving. Then I get the promo from CCP for free time or cheap sub, and I immediately regret downloading the client after logging in.

It's such a superb, amazing concept of a game, but the terrible player civilization and atmosphere just run into the ground. Which is hard to do from space.

The Summoner's Guidebook: I suck at last-hitting

Feb 17th 2012 2:26AM (Massively)
Bleh, this is exactly the sort of thing that keeps me from enjoying MOBAs. To me, forcibly stopping your DPS just so you can arbitrarily get that last shot on a minion while fighting against the game mechanics of your autoattacking champion is just bad game design and carry over for the sake of nostalgia exclusively from the days of this genre being a mod. These two issues I see as being very pervasive across the MOBA genre, like everyone keeps trying remake a mod instead of a game.

Anyway, I personally didn't realize just how money last hitting regularly will net you until you put it into perspective VS player kills, so I'll probably try to do it more... but I'm not going to like it!

FYI You CAN press and hold right mouse click to move around. I freaking hate watching "Pro" MOBA players just spazz the shit out on their RMB to move, ugh. I don't know how they can put up with the noise, much less thinking about what that's doing to the life of their expensive gaming mouse.
