Splinter Cell Conviction and Assassin's Creed 2 sneaking to Mac by September

Jul 22nd 2010 5:55PM (Joystiq)
I wonder if Ubisoft will be adding the Mac ports to Steam so people who bought AC2 or Conviction on Steam will also have the Mac version. (I hope they do, because no big publisher has done so so far. Maybe if they start it more will follow.)

Mac 201: Preparing your Mac for Snow Leopard

Aug 17th 2009 1:33PM (TUAW.com)
Hey, you got a typo at the second line of paragraph four:

"...because the CPU has to translate Intel instructions into PowerPC..."

Shouldn't it translate PowerPC instructions to Intel so the Intel-powered Mac could read and execute them?

Israeli cable TV provider tries its hand at streaming games on demand

Jul 20th 2009 9:52PM (Engadget)
I've seen them stream games like Sonic Riders over, so I'm guessing almost all PS2 games will be compatible. :-D

Video teases World of Warcraft Vollee client for iPhone

Apr 27th 2009 1:04PM (Massively)
Vollee apps don't render the graphics on your device, but render them on the server and stream them to the app, so that even a minimal 3G phone could run the app without any performance issues.

Apple Stores selling contract-free iPhones

Mar 27th 2009 3:21PM (TUAW.com)
My friend tried getting an iPhone 3G via contract and then canceling it. AT&T told her (and showed her (in the contract)) that upon cancellation, the iPhone must be returned. Yes, I'm serious.

The iPhone needs a native Gmail application

Mar 14th 2009 5:54PM (TUAW.com)
True, a native Gmail app is needed. And regarding your comment on the App Store T&C, remember Google has broken standards before: the voice search feature in Google's main app is not allowed by the SDK terms, yet they still got it through the approval process. I'm guessing if Google would want to make a native Gmail client, their only problem would be to code it, (and not much of a problem there, too, looking at their other native Gmail client) and not conforming to the rules.

Poll: New iPods vs. new Zunes, what're you buying?

Sep 10th 2008 2:45PM (Engadget)
Same here. (I also got it not long ago so I don't wanna pay another $400 for the newer generation when mine is still very very new. [I have the 32GB one]) It's great that they put in the new Genius feature in 2.1. I'd be very angry at them if it was a iPod touch 2nd generation exclusive.

Poll: New iPods vs. new Zunes, what're you buying?

Sep 10th 2008 2:43PM (Engadget)
The new iPod touch isn't thinner, it's 0.5mm thicker. The old one was 8mm thin while the new one is 8.5mm.

See here: http://web.archive.org/web/20080213131020/www.apple.com/ipodtouch/specs.html (old iPod touch). I know it's tough to look at, given the broken styling, but it's the best we can get for an old copy of the site. Look at "Depth". See where it says 0.31in (8mm)? That's how thin the old one was.

Now look here: apple.com/ipodtouch/specs.html . Again look at the depth, and see it says 0.33in (8.5mm). Why do you think Apple made the iPod's corners more rounded like the ones on iPhone 3G? So you couldn't feel the extra thickness. (Sure, I couldn't too even if it had the same rounded corners, it's only 0.5mm more. But it's still more.)

iPhone Dev Team unleashes Pwnage Tool 2.0

Ditto. I'm a Windows user, about to buy an iPod touch and i'd like to jailbreak it when I get it. :-/
