Wishes do come true, Planetside 2

Sep 28th 2009 1:16PM (Massively)
It is true that SOE has caused much harm in the MMO world but they did so through tinkering with pre-existing games. They didn't understand the old maxim of, "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

But let me put things this way, Planetside was the red-headed step child at SOE and still drew in millions of players. Even now there are thousands of players for PS six years after the game has been out.

Planetside captured the one feeling that no other FPS has. Planetside is all about teamwork and numbers. Planetside is all about war and how the individual facets of war work together. Planetside shows that an army is more than the sum of its parts.

Because of this feeling the game will not work as a free to play game. Planetside was still an FPS in which individual player skill mattered. If the game becomes free with micro transactions than there will not be a dedicated group to play. I hope SOE takes a close look at the failure Battlefield Heroes was and keeps the game on monthly payments.

Planetside is five bucks on D2D. I can't guarantee that the fights will be a 300 free for all every hour like they were during the glory days but you'll still find those giant brawls during prime time. Give it a try.

Battlefield Heroes enlists two million recruits

I played the game through beta and release. It was buggy and unbalanced. The micro-transaction scheme was despicable thanks to how quickly the items would disappear (and the price). Instead of blowing twenty dollars on micro-transactions it would be smarter to buy a well balanced game like TF2.

Mark Jacobs announces major features cut from Warhammer Online

It seems like an EA decision to me. They change the name back to Mythic and then cut shit out of the game. Mythic has had a "When it's done" attitude from the start. EA would be the ones losing money, not Mythic.

Releasing a half finished MMORPG will not fly in today's overcrowded market.

Damn phone in the background had me searching for my cell...

$100 million for a PS3? What a bargain!

Funny thing is, I was watching that bid and since ebay has no easy way to report things to them, nothing could be done. First joke bid was 10 million and then it kept going up.
