I recently went back in myself and checked it out. Everything was gone and there were wild animals all over the place. Thankfully I had built up my fight skill some before I had left. I missed it, but i didn't miss the things I had so much, more the great people that I used to play with there, and the sum of our achievements, some of which were still there. I felt a certain hollowness, seeing that he game world move on without me in some ways. But seeing the things that remained, that I had contributed to, like the breakwaters, the willows on the mountaintop and the earthen lookout tower that rose above them... I knew that players would come and see that, and perhaps be intrigued, and maybe, just maybe might wonder about who did all that, or be inspired by some of it. That's a big part of what the true greatness of Wurm is to me.

Yay, contest! Anyway, I would make a rebellious, Sith species, Sith inquisitor assassin. I would amass my power so both enemies and allies would tremble before me and I would let nothing stand in my way. One day I hope to challenge the emperor himself and take my rightful place as ruler of the Empire! (Mwahahahahahahaha!).

The game sounds very interesting there, and it sounds like they have done some serious strategic planning in terms of development and PR, which is something that is often lacking in indie/sandbox games. Hope to see it soon and hopefully it brings sandbox features more into the spotlight.

Hmmm. It is 10 am EDT and I seem to be watching an empty showroom floor. Ahhhhh well.

@ShivanSwordsman Shivan is right, it's not free to play, it's an unlimited free trial. Free to play, to me at least, means you can access a large portion of the game content without paying, you cannot do that here. You can access the starter zone and a little place to play with construction and that is it. You have a gold limit, cant access any quests that can help you level much after level 10 ore so and my favorite, you cant even use chat unless you subscribe. What 'free to play' game doesn't even let someone use chat unless they sub?

I dont care about good combinations and bad combinations. Any game that let's me play a "Feng Shui Scholar" (class) is awesome in my book.

Actually the closed beta only ran from June 3rd to June 5th, as mentioned in official releases (and by extispex above): http://hellgate.t3fun.com/News/Event_List.aspx?eid=57&etype=0 and http://forum.t3fun.com/hellgate/announcement/cbt-phase-ends-today-1096/ . After the closed beta ended there were no official announcements regarding development or the next stage of beta until today (although there were some new content announcements which I suppose you could count as development announcements... of a sort).
