By the time the lawsuits started, Interplay was already wayyy past the launch deadline AND the only thing they had to show for the game was random concept art.
Even the most lenient company, would balk at a contract extension when the most you have done and shown are pictures of what your product looks like.
I am pretty sure the question was more asking about, "Would Interplay ever finish developing and then release a Fallout MMO, even if Bethesda did nothing?"
Considering how much was released even before the lawsuits, and how far past the contractual deadline for releasing the game Interplay was, the chances of the game actually existing was close to zero.
Your entire argument is null and void considering that the devs are still developing and have developed content for the 1-50 bracket. People still make alts, still run low level TFs and mission ands some people completely ignore the incarnate system and still have stuff to do.
The Incarnate system didn't create people that thought of the game that way. It just a high visual system that brings it out to the forefront.
The mentality has been there since the beginning, it just has evolved since the beginning.
It first was who was using the 'good' powersets and ATs, which evolved into marketers vs non-marketers and min-max IOers vs non heavy IOers, and that finally evolved into the Incarnates vs Non-incarnates.
All of the people that try to perpetuate these divisions are still a minor part of the population. The majority of players still use SOs or at least just common IOs, don't use the market heavily, and many long standing players still dong have level 50s.
Like all communities, don't let the vocal few take away your personal fun.
Right, having obscure skills that have undocumented effects on your characters is not confusing. They don't even explain how much of a bonus each point in a skill is, that was done all by people on the forums. Some skills plainly didn't do anything noticeable or are more expensive for the same benefit (weapon types). Did you know that Photonic Theory does absolutely nothing for Photonic Shockwave? Yet it is listed as one of the connected skills.
Right, the entire skill sysytem was fine and needed no update /sarcasm
Since when did Bethesda TAKE fallout away from Interplay?
Interplay sold the rights to the entire franchise to them because they were dead broke from corporate ineptitude.
Bethesda only gave them the rights to make a fallout MMO, Which by their contract they were suppose to show development by a certain date that actually exists beyond being vaporware.
PS: I wish people would stop saying that interplay are what made the older fallout games great. No they didn't, that was Black Isle, which Interplay help run into the ground.
@Barrikade Considering that Interplay in the past didn't actually make the older fallout games in question and just published them?
I don't trust interplay to actually release anything in the far future, much less a full MMO, considering how much they have boggled their finances and how they haven't actually developed a product in how long?
