Report: 64% of Chinese gamers spend money on online games

Apr 4th 2012 4:15AM (Massively)
@Dril It is an irrelevant stat anyways, what is important is 180 million players and $5.8 billion revenue.

Who cares how many pay when there are so many players and so much money floating around the market.

Mythos Global wants you to play your way

I quite enjoyed Mythos when I last played it, but those videos really are poor, enough to turn me off trying it again.

The Daily Grind: Do social media tie-ins annoy you?

I don't mind social media, tie-ins, integration, whatever... my issue is purely with the gating.

It irritates me having content locked behind a login, a like button, etc when it is free content. It is just a marketing ploy to get information on me to push more crap down my throat I'm not interested in.

@Dalano

It is a massive generalisation, but on the whole it is true as well. You just need to look at game sales across the countries to see that simple, big explosion games sell better in America and the thoughtful, complex games sell better in Germany.

BioWare doctors discuss Mass Effect MMO

I think ME lends itself quite well for a sandbox type of MMO, but it couldn't be as story driven as SWTOR because, well, how do you top the story in the ME trilogy?

The Tattered Notebook: Breaking up the family

@Seffrid

I don't understand why SOE chose them as a partner, they aren't particularly well experienced, they aren't that big and they have a poor public relations record.

SOE's only likely gain from this deal is increase penetration into Germany, the rest of Europe isn't going to be any more interested or aware of SOE products than they currently are.

Is it really worth all this just to get a few more central European players?
