Massively talks with Aeria about Eden Eternal, spies a trailer

I am pretty excited about this game after I saw the last write up for it on here. Just looked through the classes. Illusionist looks like a CC class. What's got two thumbs and is excited? This guy, right here.

Free for All: Is a subscription the new sign of trouble?

Apr 20th 2011 6:22PM (Massively)
I am that odd f2p gamer that hates most subscription games (though I do have an active subscription to Eve, I play it f2p with plex and gtc from isk farming).
My whole problem with subscription games is that you don't know what you are buying before you get it. You can read about it, you can see some screen shots and in-game videos, possibly play the beta, but it is like buying a 60$ mystery box. It may be full of gold and shinnies and stripper glitter, or it may be full of all different kinds of piles of crap. You really don't know what you get until you install and start playing. By that time you are already 50-60$ invested in it and may not play it past the free month. I know I have tried numerous sub games at release and stopped playing after the month was out.
F2P breaks down the wall and lets you decide both if you want to play for an extended period of time and how much money you want to put into it. If you like the game you keep playing, either for free or by putting money into the cash shop/subscription.
I play a TON of free to play games. I bounce around between them once I get bored with one. There are some, like Rappelz, that I have been playing on and off for 5 years now and have put maybe a total of 50$ into it. It allows me to decide what I play, when I want to play, and how much I want to pay when I do stick to a game.
I look at most sub games and go "I am most likely going to be disappointed" and usually, that is the general consensus with the game by its own community.

I subbed last month to then. Went to one that got released after Fippy Paw. I am at about level 25 at the moment (playing very casual). There have been people all over the place and I have found a group or partners in every area I have been in so far.

Looks like the prog servers have brought back a ton of people and is pretty highly populated at the moment.

The Daily Grind: What's your favorite part of your favorite game?

I know FF7 isn't an MMO but it is one of my top 5 games of all time. Chocobo breeding/racing was my favorite part of that game.

I am really surprised they never made an MMO based off of the specific game mechanics of FF7. Would have made my day.

This game only has 1 male character class per race. Both are tanks. Every other class in the game is gender locked as female.

Really sad actually.

The only reason I did not like that game was that the lag made it all but impossible to be efficient as a mage (for me at least)

I stopped playing until they open up the Suez Canal. It is too big of a pain in the ass to sail around Africa to get to India.
