The Daily Grind: What's the most iconic MMO city?

Oct 31st 2011 5:36PM (Massively)
Vanguard has some pretty amazing cities like Ca'ial Brael, New Targonor, Pankor Zhi and Khal. They are all very epic, very large, and beautifully crafted. I have yet to see the other cities in the game, though. It's absolutely huge!

A certain point of view: Jef's hands-on with SWTOR's beta

Oct 21st 2011 6:42AM (Massively)
It is indeed interesting to see how someone who expects to not like a game thinks about it after playing it. However, for the actual purpose of previewing a game, coming in with a biased point of view only serves to deteriorate your credibility and distort your assessment of its features.

Furthermore, we get that you don't like themepark games, but saying things like: "For those of us who realize that MMOs were meant to be more than casual combat games..." is just rude. Get over yourself. It's as if you proclaim your view on how MMO's should be as an absolute truth that only a "superior mortal" would be able to comprehend and share.

Furthermore, stating that the developers at BioWare only transformed KotOR into an MMO to make more money is irrelevant. However, stating that story belongs in single-player games and that all MMO's should have sandbox elements is just ignorant and narrow-minded.

I believe that when evaluating a game or any product for that matter, a clear conscious, an unbiased mind, and a lack of preconceived ideas are crucial to depict the most honest assessment.

The Daily Grind: What is player skill, anyway?

Aug 24th 2011 7:08PM (Massively)
@(Unverified)

I disagree. While Guild Wars may level the playing field by providing more controlled situations than your average open world PvP, it is within these non-controlled encounters where true creativity, tactics, and on-the-fly reactions come into play, where the players have to adapt to constantly changing situations with several different variables.

Of course, fights are more often than not unfair. Yet, it is only through challenge that we really grow. Those who are capable of succeeding in situations under such conditions develop their skill in far greater ways.

@Khalus I very much doubt they will consider a higher subscription price. These kinds of things are standardized. Placing it lower or higher than what most users consider the norm could potentially cripple the game financially. Remember, this is not a one-time payment such as the selling of a game disk. This is a recurring transaction and the thought of having to pay more every month would only fit for all but the most hardcore fans.

The Daily Grind: What was your favorite experience as a healer?

I have to admit, one thing WAR did correctly (some balance issues aside) was its classes.

The Daily Grind: Have you ever dressed up as a game character?

Jul 30th 2011 8:43AM (Massively)
I've dressed up throughout my entire childhood until I reached 4th grade or so because of Halloween or some birthday party. Costumes included: Jango Fett, Darth Vader, Buzz Lightyear, Batman, Red Power ranger, and ALABAMA MAN (seriously.)

The Daily Grind: What little thing kept you away from an otherwise great MMO?

Jul 28th 2011 10:04AM (Massively)
The Lord of the Rings Online animations are atrocious. As soon as activated my hunter's beginner abilities, I uninstalled.

The Daily Grind: What's the most you'd pay for a collector's edition?

Jul 22nd 2011 2:27PM (Massively)
@Borick All is relative in such a situation. Some may treasure the exclusives coming with the Collector's Edition. Others, like yourself, don't. However, no one is a fool to favor one over the other. It all depends on what each of us values.
