GameStop pulls Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC versions from shelves
Aug 25th 2011 12:47PM (Joystiq)Seriously! Not only that, but from a physical store?
I haven't bought a PC game from a physical location in like 3 years.
Dragon Age 2 abducted from Steam, EA points finger at 'restrictive' terms of service as the culprit
Jul 28th 2011 5:01PM (Joystiq)Take this to its logical extreme. As games become more and more dependent on DLC and micropayments, companies could simply have a very small starter game for $10 and then have $50 of DLC that circumvents the vendor. Plus that DLC could be included in the game (so they use Steam to distribute) but is 'unlocked' directly through EA. No download service could be profitable if they allowed this to happen.

Feb 21st 2011 9:32AM (Big Download)The Daily Grind: Have you ever led a guild?
Dec 1st 2010 11:00AM (Massively)I believei its because when things go bad, its my natural tendancy to step up and try and fix things, which gets me into trouble.
I led a very large guild back on Pirates of the Burning Sea when it first got going. I also led one of the largest guilds in the Browser based MMO, Astro Empires, for quite a long time. Both times it led me to disillusionment and burnout!
Being the Guild leader is an utterly thankless job. Yes, occasionally you lead people to some great victory, but most of the time, players love to complain about everything they don't like, but want someone else to fix it. A GM is only as good as the people in the guild who are willing to step up and help, and without that, the job can ruin any game.
Massively's in-depth interview with SWTOR Community Manager Stephen Reid
Nov 18th 2010 6:24PM (Massively)Honestly, there are two things I want from MMORPGs I never get, they are opposites, and I never expect them in the same game.
1) True sandbox world where what you do really makes a difference.
2) The interesting gameplay and story of a single player RPG.
Bioware has obviously focused on #2 and it sounds like it could fit the bill. I would also love to see more #1s but I think for now we are going to have to rely on more indie projects for that, as there is a lot more risk involved and they likely attract smaller audiences.
I don't need a big animated chat room. I know that is reducing MMORPGs a little absurdly, but for many players, its just a way to hang out with friends and the actual gameplay is a distant second. Sorry, I just don't get my jollies that way.
Blogger claims to be Mythic employee, tells "Why Warhammer Failed"
Oct 13th 2010 6:13PM (Massively)As for the post, I think the guy is likely the real deal. His comments read like anyone who has been at a smallish company with misguided management. I think he's taking his digs at SWTOR because he partially blames that game for the failure of WO. As he sees it, resources that could have been devoted to improving and saving 'his' game and 'his' job have been shifted to something else, so undoubtedly he's going to be resentful and biased.
