The Daily Grind: Do you think MMO exit surveys are a waste of time?

Feb 18th 2012 8:09AM (Massively)
My favorite is WoW's "Will of the Forsaken nerf" option. I don't know if they still have it since they overhauled the whole site, but they still had it when I dropped my sub last year.

The nerf in question was done pretty quickly after the game launched.

E3 2011: Checking in with Free Realms

I bought a lifetime account when they first made them available. While I love the game, I really wish they would revitalize some of the different games.

Racing for example, no one plays! Would be awesome to see SOE retool the rewards for racing, and also redo cart customization. It really isn't any fun when you do get in a race to go against someone with a fully upgraded cart. It's especially a blow since normal folk can't compete without shelling out extra for the upgrades.

Really what I would like to see is all the upgrades, instead of being just plain better, turned into a give/take thing. For example, an engine with a higher top speed but slower acceleration. Players could customize their carts for how they want to race without completely eliminating the other racers.

NYCC 2010: Our interview with FFXIV's Sage Sundi and Yasu Kurosawa

To be fair, a large portion of those quests in FFXI really didn't serve any purpose. And the few that did basically boiled down to three major uses.

1: A cheap or alternative method of gathering required spells to use/sell for cash.

2: Required, or nearly required for advancement either from limit breaking, AF gear, summons, increasing bag/storage space, or travel.

3: Grinding reputation so that either of the first two become available.

Those few quests that were useful were INCREDIBLY useful, and pretty much everything else was pointless.

That said, the FFXIV system is hardly a step in the right direction. It doesn't offer any insight into the world, and it's incredibly unbalanced. I can't imagine how it was even remotely acceptable to anyone that a solo player could potentially beat a quest at 4*, while a party can find one that's impossible at lower.

At least you get a decent chunk of EXP and Cash......every 36 hours....
