A Mild-Mannered Reporter: Some Enhancement evening

Mar 15th 2012 1:20AM (Massively)

From level 10 to about 20, generic Invention Origin enhancements will give you the best improvements at those levels.. Then from level 25 to about 40 Single Origin enhancements are more powerful. From level 40 to 50+ Invention Origin enhancments once again take precedence and you can start working on the special sets.

You can also purchase sub-level 25 Single Origin enhancements using either Merit Rewards or Architect tickets. These are much more powerful than any other kinds of enhancements at those levels but are harder to get.

The enhancements that aren't really useful anymore are the dual origin ones. They are mostly left over from when a characters power origin was supposed to mean something.

Also the bit about having to unlock contacts in order to purchase Single Origin enhancemnts is no longer really true. You can buy these from the co-op zones like the Rikti War Zone, Midnight Club, etc. without unlocking the contact.

And BTW, once again I don't get the complaints about not enough repsecs in COH when they are so plentiful and easy to get. Much more so than in most other MMO's.

And all the fuss about creating just the right build for a particular powerset is fundamentally optional. It doesn't really affect actual gameplay very much. You can still just outfit yourself with IO's and be perfectly fine playing the game.

The trailer shows both the new staff powerset and the beastmaster mastermind set, neither of which were included with I22, although they are on beta.

Paragon Studios has been recruting lately for developers and staff to work on a "Next-gen" MMO, so certainly something is going on.

Online gaming linked with marital dissatisfaction

Umm.... its the Brigham Young University. Its kind of like Notre Dame announcing that condoms cause STD's, and should be taken as seriously.

A Mild-Mannered Reporter: Assume I'm making a pun about the Super Pack

I've played the game for about 7 years now (VIP) and i really don't care about the packs. Either they will work out or they won't.

The Daily Grind: What makes you stay with a bad game?

Feb 14th 2012 2:47PM (Massively)
I'm kind of an explorer type when i play MMO's. So don't care so much about things like high level raiding other than as a means to experience new content.

An example might be the import MMO Sword of the New World or Sword 2 as they are now calling themselves. While gameplay has some innovation, for the most part its still the excruitiatingly boring mob killing dynamic that exists in so many asian MMO's.

What keeps me coming back however is the stunning artwork and environments to explore. The music is also excellent.

Leaderboard: Tanks vs. healers

Bad tanks wipe groups more than bad healers do.

The Daily Grind: What dead game would you play in a second if it revived?

Feb 12th 2012 12:58PM (Massively)
Tabula Rasa. I played right up until the end and it really was a perfectly decent MMO, regardless of initial problems. Certainly much better than a lot of the shovel-ware that is out there. I'd give Star Wars Galaxies a try too.

LotRO struts the runway for Fashion Week

LOTRO is a gorgeous game. Except for the sad, sad hats.
