and jam them all into the same weapon. Undeniably awesome.

It seems as though I've always been two steps behind the masses in any franchise I try. It happened in Ultima Online, Everquest, Asheron's Call, WoW, you name it...I join up right as "the good old times" are coming to a close and the game either takes a turn for the worse or loses a big portion of the playerbase. FFXIV seems like it could be my chance to jump on board and experience a game from the very beginning. Or perhaps I should hold out and jump on the Guild Wars 2 train, or Tera, or Rift...looks like I may have to try them all. Now if only I could figure out how FFXIV will react to my 600ms ping.

Ah finally something to look forward to! I've been sick of playing Michael Jackson's Moonwalker on the Sega Genesis for the past twenty years.

"My most recent break is going to be an indefinite one." --I should have clarified, an indefinite break from the World of Warcraft.

Over my last 12+ years of MMO play all of my breaks have been involuntary due to military deployments. It's an odd feeling to come back to a game and realize that it's a completely different game than when you left...sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.

My most recent break is going to be an indefinite one. Sometime over the last 6 months my WoW account was compromised and my toon was transferred to a different account. As it turns out you only have a certain amount of time (i'm not exactly sure how much time) to file an ownership dispute with Blizzard and apparently a few months is beyond that time frame. So now someone else is playing my character (well, i'd be willing to be it's been sold) and there's nothing Blizz can do for me.

The thought of starting a new MMO is a bit overwhelming to me but it's also extremely exciting. After having put in so much time to reach the level cap, max professions, attain a true understanding of your class and abilities, and become a 'good player' the thought of starting out at square one in a game that I don't know is quite intimidating.

Luckily for me there's a big market out there with lots of titles that look enjoyable. Aion, City of Heroes, LoTRO, DDO, WaR, Lineage II, and the upcoming SW:TOR, Tera, Fallout Online, and The Secret World. Jeez, what to pick...

Despite the fact that my NCSoft launcher told me "ready to play, sept 8th" I found out today that my launcher was, indeed, mistaken. Now I have to download the 1.3gb patch. Well at least with my satellite internet downloading at blazing 23KB/s it shouldn't take long... I wonder how everyone else is enjoy the expansion.

I'm curious to see how the Miragent set holds up in the world of level 55s. I'm eager to see the next generation of Fenris/Miragent-esque gear...but, alas, my eagerness is slightly overshadowed by my dread.
