Have to say i totally agree. This is the best system for a game to use, could not have said it better.

The Soapbox: Give indie a chance

If Glitch is a indie game. I think you can say it won. Also look at your article you didnt mention one indie game. but you got the WoW reference in there.

The Daily Grind: Would you buy an advanced character?

@pancho72
I dont see the point of stopping this. We have all been in raids with players that were powerleveled by friends and dont know the first thing about the character. So instead of killing a revenue source and letting the game die, or a chance to reinvest the funds into content for the game. Why not just play the game the way you want to play it. If its not fun to play move on.

The Road to Mordor: Convenience, not advantage

Jan 21st 2012 3:53PM (Massively)
@aurickle I agree. That stat armor gives no unfair advantage. I was just trying to point this out to the author. That his point that stat gear is somehow "Pay to Win" but Boost and Buffs are somehow different. Turbine should be allowed to do what is wants. Its your choice to play the game or not.

The Road to Mordor: Convenience, not advantage

OK What do you see is the difference between selling "boosts and buffs" (which you seem fine with) and selling stat armor? Both give the rich a unfair advantage. The game play is what is important. So certain players have no problem with games that sell boosts and stat gear. There is plenty of choice in the mmo world.

LotRO reverses policy, plans to sell PvE stat gear through the store [Updated]

Jan 15th 2012 3:00PM (Massively)
Really?

"While the gear in question has reasonable stats, it certainly raises the specter of the game's heading toward pay-to-win territory by having it for sale at all."

How do you win LotRO? And what to you get when you win? Why this might apply to a PvP game. I dont see how it applies here at all. Your thoughts?

Joystiq Podcast 154 - Too short edition

Oct 9th 2010 6:58PM (Joystiq)
Justin didnt say you wouldn't buy dragon age dlc because it was $15 and 1 hour of content. If i remember the podcast correctly. How can you use this metric for dlc, but not new games?
*Lionhead should come out and say Fable 3 is 3 hours long. (its ok with Justin McElroy).
*Mirror's Edge way to long.

The Tattered Notebook: Behind enemy lines

If you cant figure out the access tiers, maybe Hello Kitty Online is more your speed. One of the great things about EQ2X is studying the game to find the best way to level/craft/fight. Let the masses who cant read the chart, try it and move on. SOE also makes Freerealms no chart needed.

"I could spend another few pages ranting on about how unintuitive SOE's presentation of the different access tiers really is, but one look at its cluttered chart is, as they say, worth a thousand words. SOE needs to simplify it, particularly if the goal is to attract the masses who aren't really known for their patience or willingness to sit and figure things out when it comes to online gaming."

PAX 2010: ArenaNet announces Guild Wars 2 app for smartphones and iPad

I hope they don't dumb down the game to much to run on a single core 1ghz processor. Dont need to revist the pentium days.
