The Soapbox: Casual is as casual does

Apr 3rd 2012 9:33PM (Massively)
Casuals have ruined many a game. WoW has crumbled due to the high demand of casuals wanting instant gratification from LFR and LFG. Casuals build zero community and actually destroy any community that there is. The companies however do not want to lose the subs of casuals and therefore make content for them which dumbs down decent content and totally waters down the game. Look at WoW now. Completely casualified. LFR is horrendous and so is LFG. MMOs are not meant for casual play. They are meant for putting time into. Casuals need to go play single player games and GTFO of mmo play

The Daily Grind: What game would you play were it not for the community?

I said it was a rarity. Which I still stand by that statement in comparison to WoW's awful community. You sound like you may be a part of that community. And as far as the training on other raid groups well that's what happens when there aren't instances and it is pretty much expected to happen so your attempt at a troll is failed

I know this has been said but WoW was the downfall of the mmo community.

Before I played wow I played Everquest and Dark Age of Camelot. These games had AMAZING communities and you rarely ever came across a rude player. Most of them actually were more than willing to go out of their way and help you. Even the people who raided and had amazing gear were very nice.

And then came the Hiroshima bomb named WoW. The community didn't start off terrible but over time it spread like a disease and more and more people played and got infected with the internet tough guy syndrome and began to be trolls and rude arseholes for no reason. It is very hard now to find a decent person in WoW these days especially since the "wonderful" LFG and LFR systems were implemented. It is an awful awful community and now it seems like this is supposed to be the norm for how to act in an online setting because it is rampant everywhere since wow

Blizzard acknowledges TOR's impact on WoW

TOR's lackluster performance probably only helped with WoW's subs by getting those people that had cancelled and waiting for TOR to realize what crap it was then resub for WoW

Get your free TERA beta keys here!

The game is good looking but that's about all I have to say about it's positives. It feels more like a F2P game more than a sub game. the crafting is SUPER expensive at low levels and very bland, same mobs different levels over and over. very grindy leveling and not much of a story to go along with it. After getting to 21 on my archer, which was very boring to play, I really didn't wanna go and level another character. I was already burnt out and was only level 21 lol. The first dungeon is a bore, combat is real clunky feeling. I would definitely try this out via free beta keys before puchasing this game.

I agree, nothing in wow compares to pretty much any raid or boss fight in EQ. The wow community would never last against EQ
