@Lateris

they said 5 man years for tesselation

So one team (5 people) for a whole year

In contrast, the trinity expansion, the new engine, took 50 man years.

@Ref Minor

Of course they have not removed him. They can't do that. Are you stupid or something? Or just have no idea what CSM or CCP is? What would be the point of a player elected body if the company can just remove who they don't like.

Also, to all the people who have no idea about the game and have not even seen the videos. Stop posting.

Eve is a game where you can do anything. You can harras people. Its not like other games where that would be a problem. In eve it is ok. But that is because people know this from the start. They know its a griefers game. They like that about it. And that is why we play it.

I don't see why every game should be exactly the same and cater to kids or whatever your definition of right and wrong is.

Someone decided to make one game where there are no limits. If you think that is wrong, we wont judge you. Just don't play the game.
But don't come playing the game complaining that one of the oldest games in the industry should be changed to how you like it.

Mittens did nothing wrong. They griefed someone (he wasn't even on the kill, other players from his alliance were), remember, griefing is allowed in this game, and then that person decided to go all real life about it.

He also never asked players to grief him until he commits suicide. It was blown up by this site and many like it because apparently this sells (we have made hundreds of posts about it) and they have no moral fiber.
He gave out his ingame name for players to go and kill him. There is nothing wrong with that. It's actually what eve is all about. People know his name (the mittani -alexander) and try to kill him all the time. In fact, his corpses will sell for a lot of money.
If you are mentally unstable, don't play a game that allows this kinds of things.
If you are mentally stable but don't like what this game allows. Then don't play it.
But why would you got and bitch about a game you don't play, and tell players that do play it, how they should play it. Can you not understand that we lake the fact you can scam, backstab, and fuck people over? It is the only game that allows this. Why do you think everything drops when you die.
There are different games out there for different people. Play the ones you like and leave us alone.

Now a bit more to the point. He did nothing wrong. He crossed no line. CCP knows this and they haven't told him to do aynthing. Yet that idiot decided to step down as chairman and just remain as a normal member of CSM. This is wrong. People gave gim 10k votes. The next person got 5k. People wanted him to represent them. Clearly. He will not be doing so. That is wrong. The CSM was created so that people would vote for who would represent their views ingame. They clearly think he is the man to do it. He will not be doing so. And do you know why? Because sites like this inflated this for numbers and you sheep went batshit insane over it. He realized he is giving CCP bad rep. And has offered to step down. He said that he cannot play the game he wants to play it, and be CSM chair, cause it would give CCP bad rep. So he is stepping down so that he can play the game he has played it untill now.

But this is wrong. This means that only people that play the game a certain way can have CSM representation. And that is not what CSM is about. CSM is a democratically elected body to represent players. And most wanted to be represented by him.

EVE Online's time dilation keeping game in sync

Find me one other game with the same sandbox and pvp freedom.

The fact you listed two other spaceship mmos says you have no idea what eve is about. Space and scifi is only a part of the story. A small one at that. The point is the freedom. The ultimate sandbox. The pvp experience no other game can offer.

Last time even tried to pull some of this alternative revenue shit they lost 20% of their employees. So you can take your free to play and stick it up your arse. Of course that is just my opinion. But that is the point. You for some reason believe that everyone shares your opinion and thinks exactly the same way you do. This might come as a shock. But not everyone thinks as you do.
But that is ok. That is why we have a free market with many different games to fulfil every desire.
We have popular games that try to fulfil as many as possible. And fail. But that is my opinion. I think eve is awesome at what it does. And no other mmo comes even close to filling the niche eve fills.
Then again a lot of people cant even fathom playing a game where everything is allowed and backstabbing is encouraged.
So how about we be civilized and we let people with different wishes play games they like instead of calling those game history, pulling completely false numbers out of our asses, and being a general dick.

WoW loses another 100,000 subscribers

@GreatWolfFenris

The subscription numbers are irrelevant in that regard. If that is what you are interested in then check how many players a game can manage on one server. Wow has very low numbers of players per server cause they have a lot of people.

I don't know which game happens to have the most people on one server but I would guess its eve seeing how they only run one server.

EVE Evolved: The benefits of a subscription

Oh my now that's an arrogant writer.

"and then devised a viable hybrid freemium business model"
"We've established that a free-to-play EVE could potentially be viable"

Oh? What exactly makes it viable? You sure made a lot of conclusions there

Last time CCP decided to dabble in other sources it cost them 20% of their employees. You really don't get the eve playerbase do you?

Anonymous not targeting Sony customers in OpSony

Amm...no, sopa does nothing against hacking.

It is also a terrible bill which would no longer allow facebook, youtube, or google (not to mention many other sites...even this one) to operate within the US. Result being that the US will cut itself from the internet as we know it and become more like China. Sopa is a more powerful version of the great firewall.

Someone once said that the apathy of a citizen in a democracy is worse then the cruelty of a tyrant in a dictatorship. Where all of you do nothing to prevent the destruction of the free internet, at least anonymous is standing up for what they believe in.

EVE Evolved: All there is to know about DUST 514

Jan 2nd 2012 8:33AM (Massively)
@Terce

Well, its a complex game. Now I don't know how much you know about eve online but its about spaceships having space battles in space. Lately though there was en expansion which allowed you to settle planets. Build infrastructure and so on. There is however no pvp on those planets. If someone builds next to you and starts taking your resources there is nothing you can do.

Enter dust 514. You will be able to order an attack on someone else's territory. But why have some AI soldiers running around if you can just make another game and pop up this conflict as a match for players playing that game. So dust 514 will be a fps with a lot of strategy elements battling on the planets of eve. Two games connected like never before.

Now DUST 514 players will create clans. Some will be better then other. You want to hire the good ones? Well, they cost more. So if you will be good, you will be able to charge more as a mercenary, and get better equipment.

If the pvp system works like in eve, and it probably will, then there will be death penalties. Which is the only pvp worth playing tbh. You have to buy the vehicle you will use in the match. And when its blown up, you lost it. Its gone. You gotta buy another. The result of course is that the more you commit, the better the ods, but the greater the loss if you lose.

There is a lot in strategy as well from fitting the vehicles in different ways, to electronic warfare and placement of spawn points.
Read the above article, explains it preety well. There are also trailers on youtube

wow, actually you are shortsighted. Why does it matter if their main title is for pc? does that mean that all games they make now must be for PC and they are not alowed to be diverse and spread out?

Dust is not intended for eve players, it is intended for a completely different target audience. Eve is a "serious commitment" game where a person would strategize and invest vast ammounts of time. Dust is a quick action game, where you sit down, press play and start shooting. Which is perfect for the console crowd.

And if you would be bothered to read some of the other posts on this page you would see Dust is coming out for PC as well. Just not at release...
