That might be the best youtube video I have ever seen.

CCP delaying Incursion to ensure excellence

Well they know that they will not be going back to fix any of these new features for several years, so they have to get them as close to "right" as they can on the first pass =)

Wings Over Atreia: Daevas of Our Lives -- The siege

Nice piece, you just elucidated why I have not pvp'd in any serious manner since DAoC. The drama does not outweigh any benefit you get from it, and there is so much of it the only people attracted to it are drama queens and the codependent.

Any good leader would not touch the cluster-f of MMO pvp with a ten foot pole, leaving those that can only lead through humiliation left to fill in the role.

Pvp can be fun, it's too bad players generally make it not fun to 90% of the population. And no, saying "OMG U CAREBEAR" will not make anyone want to participate either.

The Daily Grind: What's your favorite collector's edition?

My favorite CE was LOTRO because it came with my precioussssssss. The fact that I got a $25 expansion and a month sub for $10 has nothing to do with it, no sir-ee!

Anti-Aliased: What happened to building worlds pt. 2

This.

I would add that EVE is a really poor example of world building, there is very little difference between each system aside from the amount of planets in them. "Ooh this system has a blue background a 10 belts, the last system had a red background and 5 belts!"

Or I guess to look at it with the glass half full, space is a really easy world to simulate. It is 90% empty. (Just like EVE's content!)

Great question, any updates on the rollout of the new comment system other AOL assets are getting?

Rockets and more to be boosted in EVE's Incursion expansion

"Unfortunately, [rockets] damage output and effectiveness against other frigates has been extremely poor since missiles and ship signature radii were rebalanced years ago."

It never ceases to amaze me how little CCP pays attention to the mechanics of their game. The devs are surely playing WoW or something, they sure as hell aren't playing EVE.

The Soapbox: Don't hate the game, hate the copy

The article is about people blaming WoW for the "poor state" of the MMO genre, a point I never even addressed. In fact the article was a series of "captain obvious" statements, laid out as an extremely basic logic exercise.

What I was addressing your point that people hate on WoW simply because it is successful. That is absolutely not true, there are plenty of things in our pop culture that are both wildly successful and generally beloved (ex: the original Star Wars).

What people love to hate on are things that both suck badly and have large mainstream success. Things like boy bands, fast food, Toyota Carollas, and WoW fall into this category. Products that are not very creative, highly watered down to appeal to the largest segment of people possible, and yet somehow break sales records.

WoW as a game is bad on its own merits. If you to think that people only dislike it because it is popular, then hey, whatever helps you play at night. But this is a logical fallacy, simply not true.
