Oct 6th 2011 2:57AM (Massively)It doesn't have to make sense. It's a game. Some people seem to think a game has to follow reality and "make sense", while a game's purpose is to provide entertainment and fun.
A boss mob throwing bunches of underlings to fight the heroes in different stages makes no sense. What would make sense is the boss mob rushing the heroes with all his minions in tow to wipe all the heroes out in a massive zerg. And if the boss mob were losing, he should run off so he doesn't die and the heroes get no loot. But how fun would that be?
For gameplay reasons, it's not a good idea to throw max level mobs into a town where there are L10s, L20s and L30s.

LotRO dev blog talks Rise of Isengard crafting changes
Sep 24th 2011 6:22AM (Massively)This is useful for components that require comparatively more materials. So basically, you can choose to forgo the increased chance to create crit version of the finished product for the increased chance to create more ingredients (and hence, create more finished products).
Taking this away seems like a stupid nerf. It's already tedious and annoying to farm all those animal hides to level tailoring.
And I thought component recipes was a way to promote interdependency among crafting professions so there is an economy when X profession can supply components for Y profession. Isn't this why LoTRO has the pre-fixed 3 crafting professions, so people can't do everything by themselves?
Yeah, I guess in today's MMO in which people want to do everything by themselves, interdependency is out-of-fashion. Heh.

Nexon, NCsoft refuse to fully cooperate with South Korean MMO gambling probe
Sep 23rd 2011 3:01AM (Massively)You kill a mob. You might get 10 silver. You might get 25 silver. You might get a stick worth 5 silver from the npc vendor. You might get a sword.
Instead of gambling money, you're just gambling time. Throw away enough time and you'll eventually get something good from the mob.
Massively Exclusive: World of Darkness interview
Sep 22nd 2011 11:33AM (Massively)"So if we can hit that on the MMO front and put the game somewhere between an MMO and virtual world that draws people in because they like the style or the personal connectivity or the music or the style of it, and then there's a game as well, we'll bring in a broader range of people and create a very different experience than just saying, "Oh, it's a game." And I think the fashion component was the right way to sell culture before selling a game."
I don't get it. Can someone put this in simple English?
Newest producer's letter for Final Fantasy XIV talks patch release
Sep 22nd 2011 2:44AM (Massively)Either I'm missing a joke, or I guess I must have a different definition of a major update then. Stuff that would have counted would be New Frontier for Dark Age of Camelot, or Goddess of Destruction for Lineage 2.
