Gods & Heroes letter brings dire tidings

Mar 30th 2012 7:14PM (Massively)
I played this game back in beta years ago before the current owner... it was horrible then and its horrible now. Why would ANYONE in their right mind bring a bare bones theme-park mmo to the market and charge $15 a month for it and expect to thrive despite a heavily saturated market of AAA titles is beyond me

I feel bad for the guys who lost their jobs, however.

EVE Evolved: Five scams to avoid

Mar 4th 2012 6:52PM (Massively)
Good article, Iv never actually done any scamming myself, but some of my friends have, and let me tell you there are ALOT Of dumb people in EVE. One of my current corp-mates has been scammed several times. Each time because he didnt bother to read the fine print. Buying 500 mil worth of Ogre Is, selling his vigilent for 300k, losing expensive t3 because he didnt have a scout on the other side of a gate when taking an engagement, the list goes on. We like to rib on him in ts but truith is he isnt the only kind of podpilot out there.

The only time I was "could have" been scammed, is when I bought my first dreadnaught, I payed 1.6 bil for it, along with the capital mods and isotopes.... but the contract was missing the actual dread. Thankfully the dude just screwed up and gave the dread to me with a big apology... he could have easily dicked me out of 1.2 B.

EVE Evolved: Setting the universe on fire

Feb 26th 2012 6:27PM (Massively)
Im really excited for the future of EVE, ccp really has done a complete turn around since incarna was released. I'm currently in a high-sec wardec / griefer corp made primarily of former null sec veterans that simply got tired of the blob. A wardeck overhaul is long needed, and its gonna be interesting to see how things play out. Some things I hope they will do is eliminate alliance hopping to avoid wars and saving towers, while putting limits on how often and how much you can war-deck someone.

I want to see a secure trade window come for deals made between corps/alliances, for example our corp has done several successful ransoms of multiple corps, usually after reinforcing their large DG towers in highsec. The biggest problem with ransoming is it requires trust, if there was a treaty window or somesuch where isk and declarations of war could be dropped at the same time I think carebears would be more trusting of surrendering to PVP corps and or bringing in mercs to balance out the equation. It would be like a contract item exchange but between two corporations instead of two players...

Some other things I want are a general nerf to logistics cruisers, perhaps a dock/jump aggro timer on repping shield/armor, as currently in small gang warfare whoever brings more reps wins.

Guess ill just have to wait and see what they pull out of the hat, anything that nerfs the blob and empowers small gangs is what this game desperately needs imo.

Just where are you pulling your numbers from? You make it seem like the game is dying that is quite untrue. Infact there is 31,979 players logged into the game right now. Eve has somewhere in the neighborhood of 300,000 to 375,000 subscribers, http://nosygamer.blogspot.com/2011/10/so-what-is-eve-onlines-current.html. Like most games they arent straight out revelead, but despite the PR nightmare of monoclegate, and restructuring of the company last month, CCP has really done a good job on the latest expansions, and people are generally very pleased.

Eve was always a game based on slow growth, and will NEVER reach wow sub numbers, because its not a game that appeals to the casual massidiot gamer. So stop giving dumb suggestions please, EVE clearly isnt your game, go pick one of hundreds of clones out there that would be more to your liking.

And for anyone else that think EVE Is boring, your DOING IT WRONG. Put down the mining lasers, and go shoot some other players. Not having enough sp is an age old myth, you can solo in a t1 frigate and get kills in lowsec if you pick your targets carefully and are patient. Or you could join one of the many PVP corps that exsist and learn from experienced players. Eve is not a solo PVE game and never will be, once you get over that truith you will actully have fun in the game and stop being bored.

Much to the dismay of internet users everywhere, SOPA will pass both houses and be signed into law, causing a massive influx of litigation and economic damage. By December 2012, however, SOPA will go before the Supreme Court only to be struck down as unconstitutional.

CCP will release DUST514, and it will be a total flop, causing the company to enter solvency/bankruptcy. Eve online will be sold to EA/Bioware and the game will be stripped of its hardcore nature and retooled as a casual free for all pvp game.

Ghostcrawler announces he is departing Blizzard Entertainment shortly after Mist of Pandora launches.

Dark Age of Camelot 2 is announced and set for a 2014 release date. Warhammer online is quietly shutdown.

SOE announces Everquest Next will be a sandbox game. Nerdrage ensues.

Richard Gariott will write an autobiography on how he was the greatest thing to ever happen to the MMO industry. Nobody will read it. His ego will remain the same.

EVE Online senior producer stepping down

Dec 22nd 2011 2:39PM (Massively)
Damn, didnt see this coming. From my understanding, this guy was responsible for alot of the bad implementations / direction EVE has taken over the past few years, whether this means he is stepping down to a lower position or leaving the company entirely is unclear.

Either way I wish him the best personally, but maybe with this guy gone EVE can finally get back on track.
