As a longtime Everquest player I started to notice a drastic change to our forums last week. The powers that be pretty much took a sledge hammer to years and years of friendly vet chatter. I found the dismantling and over-moderation very peculiar but now it all makes sense. My guess is that some of the community relation staff were axed. I also would go as far as to say this years expansion will be canceled.

I may just be one customer looking at the company from a limited perspective,but I believe the economy is not the only the problem. Smedleys idea to start selling items for real money alienated an overwhelming portion of the player-base. My advice to Smedleys Japanese overlords would be to fire him.
